View Full Version : Troubles installing Nvidia kernel on redhat 8.

hey all,.. Im eager to beat this, and decided to reinstall redhat and try again...

So, here is what ive done. I downloaded the Athlon rpm file for the NVIDIA Kernel.
Tried this: And it failed.. any help appreciated.
Tnx!

Notes: im running an amd xp1800+, and using vesa drivers. (i dont have nvidia drivers to use).


[root@localhost root]# rpm -Uvh NVIDIA_kernel*.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
1:NVIDIA_kernel ########################################### [100%]
modprobe: Can't locate module nvidia

Failed to install nvidia.o

error: %post(NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-4191.rh80up_2.4.18_18.8.0) scriptlet failed, exit status 1

I fixed it with an article on this board right before i saw your url.

Now, it is only using 1 monitor, no cloning *YEY* but i cant get twinview on.. ANyone have a good "default" setup that i can use, and modify as i see need? *shrug* im going for nice twinview support here ;)

You should find quite a few posts relating to Twinview. You will have to scan the posts to see which one will help you. I have no need for that so I can't help you with that one.

FINALYL!!! YES! (thanks to that program i found that helps nvida stuff..)
Now one last issue..

For anyoen who knows this, any info would be appreciated.

What are the rates Horiz/Vert refresh rates for a Viewsonic A90? I cant get my maximum Horizontal width because ive just been guessing.. Got about 1 1/2 inches free ;)

Check the Viewsonic website, they should have the specs for your monitor there. Or better still it should be in the 'Specifications Section' in your monitor's manual. :)
