Nvidia also seem to win on image quality.

Yeah it's close but the 8800 has the edge there.
He probably benched the original results with early drivers. Quite a jump with newer drivers.

You do know he said that he redid all the testing with the newer drivers right?
R600's filtering looks like crap. :thumbdwn:
Hard to touch G80 when it comes to AF though. It's pretty damn perfect.

Idd:
Then after I have finished running the test runs for the X2900XT, the 8.37 came and I had to rerun everything.

Those tests aren't with the newest drivers. Why didn't they test w/ the 8.38s?
Users on Xtremesystems have reported a 15-20% performance boost w/ the 8.38s and have posted screenshots in-game w/ FRAPS to show it. That pretty much deems that review inaccurate. A shame.

You know its quite hard for the reviewers to redo all the tests every few hours:retard:

Then the review should not be posted untill they have the results with the most current drivers. :retard: :retard: :retard:

Hey, at least they're putting out new drivers left and right instead of releasing one at launch and basically giving a big "f*** you" to all consumers for the next 4 months like Nvidia did w/ the 8-series.
Anyhow, the 8.38s have been out for close to a week, I think. Seems they could've tested with them.

I hope its not the same scenario when other reviews pop up tomorrow. Old drivers not showing the full potential of the card.

Damnit it looks like at least some manufacturers aren't putting an 8 pin converter in their retail package. At least according to ocworkbench anyway. Where can you get one?

Apparently they got this driver directly from AMD:
As of time of testing, we did not have the latest build just issued out 3 days before NDA was lifted.

From VR-Zone:
As of time of testing, we did not have the latest build just issued out 3 days before NDA was lifted. We were running 8-37-4-070419a.
The latest 8.37.4.2_47323 drivers is supposed to implement a new intelligent algorithm that increases FPS while applying similar image quality when running Adaptive Anti-Aliasing. In Oblivion, performance several times faster than previous drivers using the new adaptive AA algorithm was claimed to have been acheived. New optimizations for HDR applications in general resulted in a 5-30% increase in performance.
The 8.37.4.2_47323 is actually a pre-alpha driver, but it includes a preview of new 12xAA and 24xAA modes. These modes use an advanced edge detection filter that delivers edge quality while eliminating blurring.

So it looks like this will never end. Drivers are still too immature for the card to gauge just how good it is.

The 8-pin is only needed if you plan on overclocking a lot. It'll run just fine on two standard PCI-E connectors.
I also wonder if my 450watt power supply will be enough.

Why would they use 97.92 drivers for the 8800's?

No offense here but since I'm going to upgrade my video card now, I am not waiting another 2 months for the drivers to mature.
The R600 has been delayed but it existed around 6 months ago, not having working drivers now is inexcusable.

Well, good luck w/ the 8-series if that's the way you choose to go. They have their own issues. The cards have been out for 7 months and you still have this kind of crap going on:

No card is perfect at this point, but at least the 2900XT has immature drivers as an excuse. What's Nvidia's?

And why are they comparing 8Q and 16Q to AMD normal 8AA?
And what's with the diferent drivers for diferent Nvidia cards?
The tweak town review was removed while I was half way through... arggggg :(

And what tells you that you won't end up in 6 months from now with a 2900XT with still buggy drivers ?
