I just took a look at tomshardware.com and couldn’t find anything about the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz did I miss something? That’s been part of my problem from the start. I can’t find anything about the CPU I have dealing with over-clocking.

A quick google search revealed this article that may help you.

OK now what?
Yesterday I said that I think I found one of my problems when trying to use VISTA.
I found this (Below) at
http://www.tweakguides.com/ATICAT_2.html
Importantly, you should make sure you're running the latest version of DirectX for maximum compatibility with the latest games. The latest full version of DirectX9.0c for Windows XP can be downloaded from the Microsoft DirectX9.0c Download Site.
Windows Vista uses DirectX10 and a different version of DirectX9.0 called DirectX9.0EX, and these are not compatible with Windows XP. There is currently no update for DirectX10 for Windows Vista, however you should always check through Windows Update to see if such an update is available. Further note that DirectX can't be uninstalled as it is a critical system component, so once you've installed the latest official version, if you experience any DirectX-related errors then try doing a re-install of DirectX over your existing install just to be safe. It can't do any harm and it just may resolve the problem.
When I google DirectX9.OEX I get two hits. One takes me back to Tweakguides and the other over to Japan. Nothing at either site about DirectX.OEX ? any ideas?
Also Thanks Again for the help I’m getting

I have never heard of 'DirectX9.OEX'. I do know that the April 2007 Direct X 9 update is for 2000/XP and Vista. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/directx
for the download. Also think of it this way;
Windows XP -> DirectX9 ONLY
Vista -> DirectX9 and DirectX10
Any games written for DX9 will run on both XP and Vista. Anything in DX10 will run on Vista only. Any DX9 updates will be for both XP and Vista (Since DX9 is on both platforms), and any DX10 updates will be Vista only. Hope that clears things up.

Normally it was called DirectX 9.0L, but I think it doesn't exist either, cause we still had to install DirectX 9.0c on Vista...
They said DirectX 9.0L would be a superior version of Directx 9.0c to run our DirectX 9.0 games faster than on XP
The Story Continues...

Thanks for the replies.
According to the people at BFG support it comes with VISTA. I haven’t verified that but will as soon as I get a chance. (I’m at work using my laptop XP only) If you have VISTA you may want to do a search to see if you do have it.
Thanks Again

Wiki says:
Direct3D 9Ex (previously known as 9.0L): allows full access to the new capabilities of WDDM (if WDDM drivers are installed, of course) while maintaining compatibility for existing Direct3D applications by putting it in a separate API. The Windows Aero user interface relies on D3D 9Ex. When 9Ex was still codenamed 9.0L, there were rumors that this would be Direct3D 10 for Windows XP.[4] It was quickly pointed out that this was not the case, mainly due to lack of support for WDDM in Windows XP
I think we need a new driver now. It's the end of the month and we Nvidia gurus have our period now. C'mon Nv...

For DirectX;
http://www.microsoft.com/directx
And, WDDM stands for 'Windows Display Driver Model' (correct me if I'm wrong guys). Those are video card drivers and for nvidia go to;
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

I'd be suprised as Longhorn was just the codename for Vista/Server 2008.

Now I have myself all mixed-up. You know how it is when you start to get old (62). I’m trying to do 3 things at one time. Are we talking about XP or VISTA with the drivers?
