Hi!

Well I should start off by saying I'm totally new to using Fedora Core 6 and am have just managed to create a dual boot of FC6 and WinXP on my new computer. Everything seems to be going fine except I just can't work out how to install the network card drivers in FC6!

I have an ASUS Extreme Striker Motherboard (nForce 680i SLI) and on the DVD that came with the motherboard I found a file named "nvlan-suse10-2.6.13-15.i686.rpm". I double clicked on this and it seemed to install a lan driver so I then went into "Network" and tried clicking on the "Activate" button on each of my two (currently inactive) devices.

What happens is that a window comes up saying "Determining IP information for eth0..." which sits there for ages and doesnt do anything.

So... right now I'm a bit stuck... Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

You're trying to use a SuSe RPM with Fedora Core. Chances are thats not gonna fly.

Since im not familiar with working with a 680i in FC6, which tends to have most drivers out of box, try these forums: www.fedoraforum.org

EDIT: I just searched there.... Try adding this to your /etc/modprobe.conf
options forcedeth msi=0 msix=0
and reboot. Maybe it will work.

ANOTHER EDIT: Remove that rpm too.

rpm -e nvlan-suse10-2.6.13-15.i686.rpm
