Optimus Maximus Keyboard Pre-orders should be available today for anyone that has an extra $1500 for a keyboard. If only they cost around 100-200ish this would be a freaking amazing keyboard if the software was done right.

I'll save myself $1450 and go with a keyboard that doesn't light up when I touch the keys...

What the hell is the point of that demo? It doesn't even work... at least for me it doesn't.

I hit the shift key and the letters don't change to caps... i hit caps and they don't change...

I can select the different layouts, but the keys don't really do anything.

Maybe once they sell one of their keyboards they can pay someone to make a demo that works... :o

EDIT: wow me read instructions :wonder:

You have to hit shift or caps on your own keyboard for it to work. You'd think they would have made the keys in the demo do the same thing though.

My bad. :p

There is alot more information if you read the blog. Pretty cool stuff. I would love one. The first batch is target for professional use. As they said they sold out all there pre-order units in the first few hours. Had over 75 pre-orders in 30 mins.

Hell for the price of the board you can buy two 8GB Iphones and have some money left over to pay your phone bill.

It's a nice idea, but for $1500 they can take the keyboard and shove it up their collective asses... ;) :D

Now, if it was $150-$200, I could think of buying it...

Anyway, I just think it's a matter of immature (and thus still extremely costly) technology. In five years from now, OLEDs (or an equivalent tech) keyboards will be feasible with acceptable costs. Right now, it's a nice toy for people with way too much money ;)

I thought they said that 3-key demo thing that came out a while back was what was going to cost as much as a cell phone.

Itīd be probably a lot cheaper (and cleaner looking) to produce a superflat touchscreen keyboard.

I need keys to press. Its also the feel of the keyboard. Its just nice to know whats out there. The keyboards they have now all sold. I hope they keep selling and can eventually make better revised and cheaper keyboards with the same idea.

I know what you mean and while the "touchscreen" keyboard would miss that feedback/feeling, I think it would be just a matter of time until one would get used to it.

Think of all the other positive sides, if you could for instance customize "skins" and make your keyboard look totally unique, the size of the buttons, or colors, or whatever else. They could even add a small key "click" audio effect to help with missing feedback feeling that I mentioned before.

I think a keyboard like that would certainly find its fans and Iīd be one of them if wasnīt as overpriced as the Optimus Maximus. ;)

Pretty cool but not worth it. It might be the coolest keyboard around but it is still limited to the physical realm of a keyboard and mouse interface.

Some of you might now about this, but I'll bet most of you don't. Do some goggle searches for Jeff Han, Touchlight, FTIR, NUI group, CityWall, etc. and see what the future holds. I urge people to take the time out and read articles and watch the videos. The future is now everyone! No longer do we need to conform to a keyboard and mouse! I urge people to join in and contribute to this growing technology so we can all enjoy it sooner then later! It's finally getting some attention with the iPhone but its still got a long way to go.
