What can be expected of the NVIDIA 9800 GTX??? :D

Specs? Memory? Shaders? Clock Speeds? Does anyone know?

We all know, dont you?

lol, Nvidia is pretty good at keeping the bottle on these sorts of things so i dont think anything will be accurate. Honestly, i dont think any speculation ive heard about the 8 series was right.

Funny? not really

I am kinda curious what the 9xxx series will be like myself,pci-e I would hope

Versus what? PCI-E2?

PCI-e2 is going to backwards compatible with PCI-e. That's not going to be a problem.

The specs will be higher no doubt. Beyond that, I have no idea what this thing will be able to do.

It wont be necessary yet... since its still in development.

I could go on and on about what I want (and don't want) in the 9800 gtx.

More shader processors and higher clockspeeds are not one of the things I want more of.

More ROPs would be good if they actually put them to good use.

Maybe going onto 1 GB would good, if they put it to good use.

Using 1T-SRAM wisely would be good.

Those are the only 3 things I think are really all that necessary in terms of performance improvements.

I hope the card is the size of a football. That would be cool. Cards that just keep getting bigger and bigger are awesome.

Nothing is really set in stone yet. I guess you could make a good guess by looking at previous generations. It will probably be similar to what happened when Nvidia transitioned over to the g7x from Nv4x. The design of the g8x will last for a few generations, but will see tweaks, die shrinks, speed bumps, and might include more ROP's, Stream Shaders, memory speed/size.

80/65 nm die shrink
700+ mhz core
1800+ mhz stream shader core
160+ stream shaders
960/1152/1536 megs of GDDR4/3 at 2400+ mhz
28 ROP's??

The ram size is because of the memory layout of the g8x having that strange bit size.

whoo-hoo! New technology!

I'm hoping G90 be 3 times as powerful as G80, yet be a tiny ass card thanks to die shrinkage and stuff

Amen borther!!!!!! My wishes too, I'm sick of two slot power sucking heat producing behemoth that causes my room to heat up beyong belief. :D

Nonsense! the G90 should consume twice the power of the G80, produce twice the heat, need a 4 slot cooler, and only run 1.5x as fast as the G80. :D

Dude video cards aren't the same as your pen!s, bigger aint always better. :D Sometimes, especially in the computer world, smaller is sexier.

Word has it that it will have double the power of the current GTX,
concerning the naming of the card, I doubt very much that it'll be called the 9800GTX.

Is this card you are talking about will be the next release, or will a G81 be released earlier? Also, any idea about when the '9800GTX' be released (Or how much time after the G81)?

We should expect to see the next generation of cards approximately one year after G80's release. That means anytime around November is when I'd be expecting to see G90 or whatever they will call it. Expect rumors to start surfacing a few months before then.

current 8800 is 300 or so gflops of output. new 98 or g92 will have one teraflop or more, according to all the new articles

so thats 3x the power??

i aint paying a $900 for this thing, i hope for all our sake ATI will come out with a competitive product to balance the 9800GTX price.

They should call it the NVidia Geforce 9800Pro..

Then they can say "look our 9800Pro is faster than ATi's" :X

Just keep an eye out for when jAKUp puts his ultras up for sale. Then we know for sure they're here. ;)
