I never saw this video till now. Anyone else ever seen it? Rather cool, though some may find it too "dry" (lots of tech info)

Wow...

NASA wishes they had that much computing power...

That's just... ludicrous.

I like this:

Guy: YEAH WE RUN SUN AND LINUX AND SUN LINUX SUN LINUX SUN LINUX SUN LINUX SUN LINUX SUN LINUX SUN LINUX SUN LINUX

As he's standing in front of a huge MICROSOFT banner.

Oh, and just realize, I think that video is from circa 2002, therefore, I'm sure all of those specs are now "old," so imagine the new stuff. :D

The room itself probably moves more air than a jet engine.

Just think... a computer fan-powered plane. :headexplode:

I hope they made some upgrades since the Geforce FX launch, considering what a disaster that was.

I've seen that before and its still interesting to watch.

I want to know what kind of power they have NOW. The 8800 is sooo many times more complex and powerful than anything they were working on there.

I wonder how much one of those "old" Sunfire machines with "only" 200gigs of ram costs today. :rofl

So, how fast can this thing play minesweeper? And Jet Set Willy? 90FPS with vsync on? :)

Crazy Awesome.

Each of their 500 servers has 200 CPUs, 500GB of RAM, etc...

90TB of data? Get out. :captnkill:

I thought the systems were awesome until he said that they were all running Pentium4's @ 2 ghz. Then again the vid is circa 2002, so I wonder what their data center is like now circa 2007

Would be interesting with a new video outlining their current stuff.
