Hello, I currently have 2 eVGA 7950 GX2 Vid cards, and I was wondering...

Is it worth it to change from that to a single 8800 GTX? Would my games improve and run smoother?

Also, is it possible to have 2 8800 GTX running on Sli? Is it amazing?

Thank you!

yes it would be much better to go with an 8800gtx or 2 in sli.

So 1 single 8800GTX is pretty much superior than 2 7950 GX2?

Also, one question, say I get a 8800 GTX, how exactly do I install it? I'm pretty cautius when it comes to adding new stuff to my comp and installing because I've had problems before.

Would anyone care to tell me step by step how to Uninstall the 7950 GX2 and Install the 8800 GTX? Just so I'm ready incase I do buy one.

And please keep posting, I'd like to be 100% sure a single 8800GTX is superior than 2 7950 GX2 for every game. I'm not very sure I could afford 2 8800 GTX.

Thank you!

i dont get it why do u need any more power??

1. 7950 GX2 is good enough.
and no upgrading from 2x 7950 GX2 to 8800GTX is not worth it. just wait for 8900GTX+.

I'm running Windows XP, My comp spec is on my sig, I'm just thinking of upgrading to be able to run the next gen games at max settings with the best. If I get 1 8800GTX or maybe 2 8800GTX on Sli, would I be able to? Or is there anything on my system that would prevent me from doing it?

I really would like to upgrade to run everything pretty much at max, but I don't really want to change Mobo, or CPU or anything like that.

Thank you

Edit: Well RIGHT NOW I'm not really looking for more power, but more like later on for the newest games coming out with DX10 and stuff, and when is the 8900 coming out?

Well, 8800GTX in SLI would pretty much run everything at high res with decent frame rates. What screen size do you have, and what resolution do you game at? You can get away with the FX60 and mobo, but for ultimate performance being squeezed out of the GTX's, a Q6600 or QX6700 would be a much better bet. Even a standard E6600 or E6700 would provide better performance.

I have a 21 inch dell screen, I run at 1920 x 1200 Res.

How hard is it to change from one processor to another? Like what would I have to do etc?

u need to change mobo then. mobo's are not that expensive.

So If I change to max performance, I'd need to get a new mobo (Advice?) and a new processor, once I get a new mobo and processor, all I have to do is put them in the case and turn the comp on and its like starting new? don't have to do anything to older set up or anything?

If you have quad SLi with GX2..may not be worth your while?

I had a 7800 GTX in SLi and went to 8800 GTX and wowee! I can actually play STLAKER and Rainbow six in 1680 by 1050 res etc! With HDR and all settinsg nearly maxed out! :)

Dirt demo plays smoothly on it too! :)

I am still using my old nForce4 SLi mobo - the ASUS A8n-SLI non deluxe version with no chipset fan and with CPU overclocked no problems
