Yeah, so... Does this driver actually do anything? Obviously they can't fix the DS3D/EAX thing (that's what ALchemy is for), but they couldn't have fixed at least one of the other issues between the last release and now?

Blargh.

I wonder if they fixed the broken bass redirection feature.

Does this driver still work with the unofficial Creative interface (installation iso-file)?
Ya... I am wondering the same thing. I am using that hacked software from that one thread awhile back for X-Fi 2. Quite frankly I have zero issues as it is now so if these drivers break that functionality I have no interest in them.

I need decoding of Dolby Digital and DTS. And the Dell driver trick only works with Vsita 32bit.

so this driver although intended for X Fi will work on the A2 ZS according to the INF?

yes, but might not work on A2 ZS "Dell Edition" which in past had a different hardware ID

yeah, problems are reported.

you can, however, download the ISO with proper real CL vista apps/drivers.

torrents are out there.

I installed these and all I got was static, no audio at all...

I'm running 64-bit vista with a quad-core and 4GB RAM, and an X-Fi Elite Pro.

Work fine for me after first uninstalling all CL software, then installing uPAX? version2, and then installing this driver.

Installing this driver over uPAX v1 caused immediate and constant static!

Do you have a link to the uPAX v2 software? I am still using version 1 and am not sure where to find Version 2. :)

yeah I got it to work but only doing a manual install. this seems a lot better than the old a2zs driver to me.

I'd still like to know the point of using these. The older drivers for Vista seem to work fine on my X-Fi other than the usual fact that EAX support is gone without Alchemy. So what would one benefit from installing these drivers? Anyone know?

I haven't installed them yet but the bass redirection feature in the last driver is pretty screwed up. It sort of works if you turn it on and don't touch any of the settings in the THX control panel, but if you want to customize it a bit it really screws things up badly.

If the new one fixed that itd be nice.

I feel like selling this xfi xtreme gamer. I honestly can't tell the difference between this and onboard sound. Must be my ears.

For real. With EAX gone in Vista (without Alchemy) then I imagine there would be no differences.

EAX is not gone, still being used by OpenAL

Well, there is no argument that sound in XP is better than Vista, right? :)
