Hi
I installed RH8 previously on another PC, everything went smoothly, now i tried to install RedHat8.0 on another workstation > that has a Asus A7N8X mboard with the NForce2 chipset, the installer starts, i choose the language, configure keyboard, mouse, sucessfully use DiskDruid to format the emtpy space into a /boot, a /, and a swap partitions, then i choose the advanced boot loader options, so that i can set up the boot loader into the partition boot record (i then copy the boot into C: as linux.bin, and put that entry in the boot.ini file, so that i can have a regular MS boot menu with an added RH8 entry).
So, i select the advanced boot options, i select the partition boot record, select the timezone, and then, i clicked "next"
and i get a total crash > some sort of "kill" signal makes the installer exit in error, and then when things settle down i get a "You can now safely boot your PC" message.
Is this some sort of NForce2 (in)compatibility issue with RedHat 8.0 ?
Or a BIOS issue?
I don't have a clue, anyone has any suggestions/tips regarding this?
This PC has the following configuration>
Asus A7N8X mboard with onboard 6-channel audio and LAN (Realtek 8201), NForce2 chipset, FSB333MHz, dual-channel DDR400MHz RAM, but i use 1GB of DDR333MHz RAM.
I have one 40GB 7200rpm ATA100 HD, and one 80GB 7200rpm ATA133 HD, i think that both HD's should be in ATA100 mode, since the slowest ATA100 forces ATA100 mode.
The CPU is a AMD AthlonXP 2.2GHz, and the graphics card is a GeForce4MX440 64MB DDR, DVI and TV-Out.
