Frequency: Once (during a whole afternoon)

OS: Vista basic 32 bit

On at nights: No

Disabled vista security features: Yes.

Dual boot: No

Background applications:

..Nod 32
..PC tools firewall plus
..Daemon tools
..Audio software

Scanned memory using vistas own bootup "memory diagnostics tool": Yes

Hardware

Memory: DDR2 PC 5300 Kingston value ram ( 2 gb )

Sata or ata : Both (Vista using the sata and two older ata drives on cable select)

CPU: Core 2 duo 4300 1.8 running at 2.4

Motherboard: DS3-P965-DS3 rev. 3.3 / Bios F11

GPU: 8800 gts 320 mb / drivers 158.43

Integrated motherboard usage: Audio and lan.

Problem persistance

Is the problem still present: No

Actions: I took out the GPU, removed the PC powercord. Inserted the powercord back in and turned on the pc without the gpu in place. I cleaned the dusty fan of the gpu and inserted back in to the slot. Turned on the pc and the problem hasnt occured again for 2 weeks.

PS: ACTIONS ARE NOT SOLUTIONS, they are simply the given action taken. If I had just turned off the pc and turned it on again the problem could have been gone, but its nice to know what people have done and if there are any common factors among those who have solved the issue or temporarily put the problem "to sleep".
