Sigh. I sure hope that Samsung dual-format player comes out before then, rocks, and isn't too expensive...

Out of interest are you still Anti Blu-Ray?Are the quality of films coming out on blu-ray forcing you to get a player?

I'm anti-Sony. But there are too many releases (Rescue Me season 3, LOST season 3, LotR:EE [if the rumors are to be believed]) that I can't hold back anymore.

But I'll be damned if I'm going to buy one of the existing gimped POS BD players on the market now. I'm going to wait until BD-J is "finalized" in October so I'll at least know for the next few months, new releases will work on whatever combo player I buy until BD-J is finalized again.

Why not just get a PS3? It is the cheapest blu-ray player, and with firmware upgrades you don't have to worry about anything.

It's a joke that the PS3 is the cheapest BD player when $200 Toshiba HD-A2's outperform Sony's flagship BDP-S1.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

But I believe Superklye's TV supports 720p and not 1080p. As far as I know, PS3 does not support 720p when watching Blu-Ray. It only supports 480i/p and 1080i/p. 1080i is a significant downgrade from 720p imo and I would not like to use that as my player.

If it wasn't for this issue with the PS3, I would have already bought one.

Where can you find an HD-A2 for $200?

That 720p issue was fixed with the last FW update.

Amazon had it for $238 w/free shipping on Monday night. Sold out super-fast though. :(

Yeah...My TV is 720p/1080i, but since it's got a resolution of 1360x768, it has to scale EVERYTHING and because of that, 1080i images actually look sharper and slightly better than 720p for me because there is more detail for the TV to down-convert to 768p rather than upconverting 720p to 768p.

On a 720p TV (1280x720 resolution), 720p is definitely going to look a lot better than 1080i.

Think this got rescinded.

In a late-breaking update, Disney Home Entertainment says that contrary to recent reports, the studio is not planning to release either 'Lost: The Complete Third Season' or 'Badder Santa' on Blu-ray this fall.

Wow. That is incredibly stupid on Disney's part.
