You know whats so very sad but true about all of this? Non of us will likely ever see the true potential of our GPU's due to the majority of developers doing a half assed job in optimizing their games for the current hardware.

They are too concerned about rushing titles out the door with good visuals but always seem to forget the most important factor in it all (OPTIMIZATION CODING!)

Im even convinced that we have not really seen the full potential of certain last gen cards such as a X1900XT. When you look at what that card offers from a hardware point of view it still has some untapped potential left in it if you ask me.

For you flight Sim X lovers out there you need to download the latest patch if you have not already and run the modified ini Settings!.

It does not even look like the same game anymore and after modifying the ini the blurry textures that used to rear their ugly heads as you got close to the ground are now gone!!!!

Im getting great performance with settings that look identical to this now-

Game runs 50+FPS with most settings maxed out with the exception of the boats and vehicles. I am running 16XHQAF forced in the CP because it looks sooooo much better than the in game AF settings.;)

Dude its about as badass looking as it gets, what I cant believe is how good it runs on my system after the dual core patch and a modified ini that makes the game look like it got a complete makeover.

Enabling that extra core on the CPU did wonders. Now if we can just get SLI support.................:D

So a single GTX is running it that good, huh? That's good news.. maybe there's hope for mine, too.

I wish I still had it so I could bench it. I had to sell it a while back when I was strapped for cash.

Oh yeah, the GTX is really more than enough GPU for flight Sim X. Its really the CPU that can hold it back and I am now convinced of that after installing the dual core patch that Flight Sim X is mostly CPU limited because after the patch I got a 50%+ improvement in the FPS department.

Both cores are at 100% usage too. From what people are saying that own Quad Core Cpu's they got as much as a 90% improvement.

Are there any benchies out with the 2900XT running flight sim X? I would like to see some if there are.

Sucks that you had to sell it.

That would be a good game for him to test out, he is pretty used to how it performed with both a single 8800GTX and SLI.

No it wouldn't, it was a horribly coded title... the engine would run like ass even at the lowest settings...

Vanguard ran pretty decent about a month ago when I tested it out on my system. Stayed pinned at 60fps when not in cities.

I'd try it out, but I cancelled my subscription for now.

Just started messing around with the "Supreme Commander" Demo. It's actually fun. I am with the "Cybran Nation" for now.

Guys? Do u think its a good idea to start a CPU scaling with regards to Brand and what GPU? Ie...AMD+ GTX and AMD+ AMD ATi and Conroe+GTXand Conroe+AMD ATi? Will help propective upgraders....like me and othres who are on the fence whether the extra money spent on new cpus will reap any benefits...

If so let me know, I will start a thread on it with some format rule so I can average them and compile a chart of sorts...

Some more TRL shots, open water is a lot more demanding with next gen content compared to TRA,FPS will drop as low as 30 in some angles. But overall it runs smooth on G80 and looks great.

Which is why I am glad it scales good in SLI.
