Wow, I have a feeling Vista 64 is not as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. That looks really nice man.
Latest Vista x64 drivers are right with XP in heavy HDR GPU limited situations like "Oblivion" grass and may have a tiny, and I mean tiny, edge in said situation. Another thing, when I am running Vista x64 all 4GB of my system ram is appropriately recognized.

Hm. I'll have to load up Oblivion in Vista 32bit then. ;)

If you want to post up your "Oblivion" saves Xion with the same orientation as you screenshots, I'll be happy to take a pass at them.

I didn't save them, sorry. :o
If you want to find that location, it's just northwest of Weynon Priory in Chorrol. If you walk down the stone path that passes by the horse stables (stables are on your right) there is a forest down and to the left of the stone path, otherwise known as the Graveyard of Graphics Cards. It makes performance take a huge hit.. even more than the saves you've put up here, I think.

That right there is the reason I would like to upgrade to it because I have 4gbs of system ram.
I am just concerned about SLI. I was always fine with just one GPU until a certain member here showed me the pOwA of 2GPUS!:thumbdwn:

I haven't been telling people this, but I'm running my RAM in single-channel right now which may be impacting performance slightly. I don't know exactly how much it may impact things, but going from my 680i to my 650i P5N32-E SLI Plus I was using, I could tell a difference in framerate of 5-10fps in some places on Oblivion in the thick forests at the same settings. I was able to run dual-channel config on my 680i and never was able to on the 650i.
I'm running a single 2GB stick right now in single-channel and will be picking up another in a week or so for dual-channel 4GB on two slots.

I don't suppose you could try the "green plume" save again. I noticed your shots are off in orientation from mine and the GTS one you posted. When I use closer to your perspective my FPS raises to 50 with 8xAA MSTA and 16xAF. I am speaking of "save 183". I can post the original if you need it.
Sort of like yours 50FPS

Original save orientation, 44FPS

If you don't want to bother with it, that's fine too.

I think it may have just been something else with the 680I. For a good long while I was also running single channel ram back when I had my Crucial Ram because it was so incompatible with this board. Under the same settings with dual channel ram the FPS is exactly the same as it was before.
The only difference that I notice is that games load up faster, ETC.....
There have been some published benches that show little to no gain in FPS when running single channel vs dual channel.
You should probably get a small gain but 5-10fps would be stretching it a little.

Here's are some bad grass areas I found around the Chorrol area with all max and all on.
Vista x64 1680x 8xAA, Multisample Transparency AA, 16xAF iMinGrass 80, all on and sliders to the right.
32FPS @ 652|2054
http://m1.freeshare.us/149fs868857_th.jpg (http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?149fs868857.jpg)
The Anvil area is one FPS worse for me. I ran all around that area and 32FPS at the above point in dense grass
was the lowest I went.
Stock as above = 27FPS

Here's another ugly FPS area around Chorral. Again, I max 32FPS at the save loaded orientation with Vista x64
1680x 8xAA, Multisample Transparency AA, 16xAF iMinGrass 80, all on and sliders to the right.
32FPS @ 652|2054

Stock as above = 26FPS

The save:

The Anvil grass area with the same quality settings = 26FPS stock. Overclocked I top 31FPS @ the Anvil save point
using the above quality and filtering settings. CPU was stock for all of this and it really wouldn't have mattered,
these areas are GPU bound to the nth degree.
EDIT: I went and tried these areas @ a reduced clock of 621 on the core and the top shot was 30FPS, the bottom 29FPS, and Anvil was also 29. I can post screens if you desire them.
For the heck of it- as the last set|save-
Vista x64 1680x 16xAF iMinGrass 80, all maxed, all on, No AA or Transparency AA = 41FPS @ 652|2054
41FPS

I haven't messed with it yet. I'll be getting another memory stick in a week or so and may just wait until then. If not, I might have to do everything over again.. boards never seem to overclock as well in single-channel.

Alright, here's that one location redone for you guys. I don't know how the frame got off like it did before, but there is a slight drop from 40-->37 with it centered exactly as the original:

Cool, Xion. Thanks. GTX is the same @ that point stock speed 8xAA Transparency Multisample AA, and 16xAF under Vista x64:
37FPS

So IMO that's very good. I think OCed was 44. It's on the other page. The OCed GTS 640MB was 31FPS so it looks like the OCed XT is still the stronger card in this situation.
I am curious how this 1GB version of the XT will do. Guess time will tell.

Xion btw, have you tried this bench yet ? Would be interesting to see how the 2900 scores there.

EDIT: Damn, just thought of something,do you actually get to game anything and not just benchmark all the time ? :p No rush in this, try having some fun too :)

Haha, it's cool man. I enjoy all this benchmarking.. I'm having a good time with it. I'll get to playing some games eventually, I'm sure, but in the beginning of a hardware change it's all about learning the ropes and optimization. After that point you can game and goof off with peace of mind.
I'll try that demo out.

Yea,i also look forward to see how Testdrive unlimited runs on your rig as its one of my favourite games.Should do well on ati hardware because of the 360 connection i would think.Runs good on G80 too, theres some pausing issues but i dont know if that because of the gamespy servers, that could be it i suppose since your online all the time, i need to get a really fast car in a offline profile to make sure.

N1:thumbsup:,hope the key still works online so its not buggered somehow, the game is awesome even offline though but there's a lot more to be had with a online profile.

Me too.. that's all I'm worried about because I want to play it online. Chance was too good to pass up, though.
