Oh yeah, AA does wonders. Much cleaner.

If you want to stress your card to the max, try walking through the forests of Chorrol or downloading one of those save games that Blacklash posted earlier that we've been benching. Those shots of Oblivion realm are cool, but thick forested areas hit the cards where it hurts.

I honestly can't tell much of a difference with and without AA enabled, but the framerate takes about a 25% hit from it. Oh well. ;)

Apparently, the Unigine benchmark seems to lock up my entire computer when I try to change the resolution to 1600x1200, so I just benched it @ 1024x768, 4xAA, 16xAF, everything maxed (no fireballs)

http://img66.imageshack.us/img66/9615/uniginebenchmark1qv8.jpg

This thing is a bear to benchmark. It's very GPU intensive.

Here is mine. 1680X1050

Single 8800GTX at stock speed. Everything is on the Highest Settings with 4XAA and 16XAF set in game. Fireballs are turned off as having it turned on raises the fps as Xion stated.

Sanctuary Demo for me-

Vista x64, CPU stock GTX 652|2054 @ 1024x with all on 4xAA|16xAF = 124.9FPS

http://m1.freeshare.us/149fs910881_th.jpg (http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?149fs910881.jpg)

Vista x64, CPU stock GTX 652|2054 @ 1680x with all on 4xAA|16xAF = 68FPS

http://m1.freeshare.us/149fs91096_th.jpg (http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?149fs91096.jpg)

1680x as bench one conditions save DOF and motion blur off = 96.2FPS

http://m1.freeshare.us/149fs922999_th.jpg (http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?149fs922999.jpg)

Overclocking my CPU adds a whole 3FPS to the 1024x bench :p It rises to 128FPS. I should note fireballs were off for all tests I ran. EDIT: I went back and tried the GTX at flat stock, Vista x64 1680x all enabled no fireballs 4xAA|16xAF = 56.3FPS.

rightclick/edit the sanctuary_direct3d9_fullscreen_1024x768.bat file and change the videomode to 13,that should give you 1680x1058 without lockups.

If any GTS users want to really test their cards in "Oblivion" try the below save with 4-8xAA Transparency multisample AA and 16xAF. iMinGrass should be 80, and grass viewing distance max. It's a real killer with all on, active filtering and all details maxed. Of course if you are below a 1680x resolution your FPS will improve or be better.

The save:

BTW guys you may get FPS in game by bringing up the console with the tilde key and typing tdt. Setting bAllowScreenshot to 1 in the "Oblivion" config file under documents, my games, "Oblivion" will enable screenshots via printscreen. They will be saved to your "Oblivion" game folder. bAllowScreenshot is under the [Display] entry. Use your notepad app to open and mod the file.

(not going to o/c the card as we currently have a heatwave with 30c/87F in the shade and temps have shot through the roof)Scared the **** outta me so i ordered a Thermalright ultra 120 extreme since my cpu temp went up with 12c:(

Btw what is considered a safe overclock of the 8800GTX ? Since this is my third card in 7 months i am very reluctant to overclock it,it works perfectly now and i dont wanna jinx it.My 8500 ram should be here monday so ill try another run with the same settings to see if there's any gains.

Nice o/c gains, this bench responds well to that by the looks of it:)

Yeah, thanks. Everything I've tested has responded really well to an overclock--up to 25% gains in some apps.

And once the new ATI Tool gets here, I'll be able to push it even more. :)

Most top out around 650/2100. Some guys have had luck pushing the memory higher than that, but most cores won't go beyond 650-660.

Right, the only way to get 690-710 is on a GTX is with a vmod. Some Ultras can do that and that is because they come with the increased voltage.

Guru3d got an Ultra they tested to do 690-

http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/428/14

This fellow shows how to correctly vmod a GTX. If I ever get the nerve I may try it myself.

http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4296

I can bench my card @ 675 on the core and 690 freezes in under a minute and not from heat. The Thermalright HR03 Plus keeps it plenty cool, it just needs more volts.

XFX is actually currently selling an Ultra that comes @ 675 on the core, and I am sure it's way overpriced.

We're getting some real variances in the scores here. Sammy and Madpistol's are quite a bit lower than Rob's and Blacklash's. Do you guys have everything set up the same?

Sammy, try turning off transparency MSAA in your control panel and see if that makes much of a difference..

Im running the 165.01 driver, not sure what sammy and madpistol are running.

I guess it could also have to do with other factors such as ram speed, latency, and cpu speed etc........

Backlash is running vista and massive card overclocks and if i look closely at robs cpu flag line it doesnt look like it says 2400 mhz, could be a crap pic perhaps.Madpistol isnt running the same res as me either and im not running the same driver as rob.Go figure that one out.AND i have slowass ram running at 533mhz.

The drivers I could believe but not the RAM. That won't make a 10FPS difference. You're all supposed to be benching @ 2.4GHz too, and you all have E6600s. Are you all benching at stock speeds on the Conroes like I am?

I am,look at the cpu flag line, only pic that it isnt clearly visible is robs.Looks like 3200 but the pic kinda bad.And maybe this runs a lot better on vista ?
