4-4-4-12 1t or 2t ?
Doesn't matter, really. The difference is minimal on the Intel platform. But if you can get it to 1T, heck, go for it. It can be a little challenging to get it there, though.
And like buff is implying, RAM really makes little difference. Just set your RAM speed to twice your FSB (if FSB is 400, set RAM to 800) when overclocking for better stability. If you want to get adventurous, you can try cutting down your stock timings a little for a little better performance.
Emphasis on "little."
One comment, though:
No way in hell they "need" 2.3vdimm. even at 1066.
Actually, some do. My G.Skill DDR2 1000 wouldn't run on anything less @ 1000MHz. Those ****s ran hot, too.

better stability..
for easier stability. ;) I'm still asking around about all this 1:1 shyt, (CPU L2 bandwidth in perfect harmony with RAM bandwidth)
but in my experience...
I too was fooled by RAM figures.. on my merge from S939 to 775 I bought my 6400 Dominator kit (v1.1, with Microns...) and was expecting to get a huge OC while running my memory at a big OC also. Intel's memory controller just doesn't work that way. I learned the hard way: You can't have both without excessive voltmodding/tweaking. Memory is one of the factors that will have the least overall effect when overclocking a system.
funny how people who buy these: don't realize that

.....not to mention... all of the above use Microns. My 8500 Dominators hit 1250 MHz.. (with 2.5 vdimm.. but hey!)

Good lord what a freakin rip off:rolleyes:
Here I am with my $109.00 1x2mb Gskill ram that will do 1000mhz with just 2.2vc 4 4 4 5 timings. LMAO!

I know, and I even got a 2GB G.Skill module for 119$.. and guys have gotten mine up to 1000MHz, too.
That would mean I could have two 2GB modules(4GB) for 1/3 the price of those Dominators. Hell, I could have 8GB of RAM for less than what they paid for 2GB.

Just 2MB of RAM? Doesn't that bottleneck your system?

You need to run 2 copies of memtest for a few hours to check for stability. All may seem fine and hopefully it is but you cant write it off until you know for sure that your ram is rock stable.
If your ram is even the slightest bit unstable funny things will begin to happen to your OS over time.

If you have 2gbs of memory download 2 copies of memtest and then run each one at the same time.

Yea thanks ,i did and the 4-4-4-12 gave me errors right away.5-5-5-15 looks good to go,ill leave it on for 5-6 hours and work from there.

They may have errored out because you're still not running your FSB/RAM at a 1:1 ratio. Did you ever try that? I noticed in your last CPU-Z screenshot that it said "2:3"
You really should. That is an absolute foolproof way to get an Intel board stable with a decent overclock. It works about every time.

How the hell do you run two copies of memtest?
http://www.memtest.org/#downiso
just run from a floppy. do a 24 hr test (not overkill).

Meh, screw DOS, floppies and all that archaic tech. Use the Windows version (the one Rob linked to.) Much easier. http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/images/icons/icon14.gif

Well i tried setting it to 1:1 but i can only do that if i set it to linked and then the ram speed goes up to 1066,dunno how to set it to 1:1 another way :(

I tried setting it to twice my fsb and sure that gave me the 1:1 ratio but that means my ram will run at crap speeds if im not overclocking.Even if that would enable me to use tighter timings i dont see how that would not be nullified by the fact that im giving away 300mhz on the ram.I just tried a mild o/c with a 1:1 ratio with FSB 1300 and the ram at 650mhz and it booted fine at 2925mhz.But sadly it bluescreened after one minute running memtest:( I have everything set as the guides suggest but this chip has fought me from day one.i see many here just being able to just raise their fsbs and run them at up to 3.2ghz at standard voltage, linked or unlinked but mine never wanted to do that.

Well Sammy, I don't know what to tell you, bud. It looks like you just got a dud overclocker. It's probably the mainboard; I haven't heard of anyone who couldn't go over 2.7GHz on their Conroe. You might want to feed more voltage to your CPU just to make sure that's not the problem. Maybe she just scales differently than most.
