R600vsG80 Benchmark Comparisons From Any Game Welcome!

Ok I actually have the retail version of Dirt (that's why I don't have the same vehicle as you as I don't have it unlocked yet). The SS below was taken with E6700 OC (for this game that really doesn't matter). All set to max with Shadows set to High at 1680x1050. I have the HD 2900XT at stock settings and I am getting nearly identical results as you OC. I am not sure why, all I can suggest is to check to make sure you are OCing the video card or just leave it at stock and try again.

Hmm, I wonder if CCC's AA and temporal AA helps here...hmm....I am not doing 60 FPS so it shouldn't help...

Obie, it doesn't look to me like AA is working from your screens. I can see heavy jaggies across the top of that tunnel in your first shot and all over the car in the last pic. Also, look at the lightpost in that last pic. Jaggies galore.

I've noticed that whenever I've tried to apply AA through the driver on some of these titles, it'll disable in-game AA(I haven't been disabling AI in every instance, though.) I'll run through it again a little later w/ different settings and see if performance changes for me.

I do not have CCC over-riding anything. I am using in game 4xAA/AF
If you put both mine and your photo into 2 tabs (tabbing between the 2) you will see that they are both the same (speaking about the jaggies across the top of the tunnel). At least it does to me. That's 4x AA working for you, jaggies are always present at 4xaa just not as noticeable as 2xaa and pronounced at 0xaa. Jaggies are usually hard to find when a SS is taken (in most games) starting at 6xAA (from my experience...IMO)

Right now it's at 3.0 GHz.

Oh and don't apply that microcode update, it's stability at the cost of performance from what I read. I will delete it in 1 sec.

Nah, I haven't installed it.

Did you install the 1.1 patch for DIRT? I didn't install it before that benchmark run. I wonder if it makes a difference. Installing it now.

Hmm, not sure about that. I installed the patch as soon as I installed the game.
Another patch is do out any day now. People are having problems with corrupt saves. That's a real bummer when you are over 20% complete. In any case be on the look out for it...hopefully this week.

Side note: It is said (from another users) that this game uses in game ads. Because I am not a car part nut I wouldn't know a real ad from a fake one. I do know EBC brakes and I saw that on a poster. However, from the look of both of our photos things are consistent so I am not sure if that's true. The reason why I brought this up is because if there was in game dynamic ads that can/will contribute to slow ups.

I don't know, but something funny's going on. I honestly don't think the game's running quite as well as it was on the 7.5s.

My overclock should be taking. I ran several games on the 7.5s and have seen substantial increases.. especially in DIRT. The only change I've made is installing the 7.6s but that shouldn't have a thing to do w/ the overclock applying itself.

Are you running the 7.6s?

Yes I am and at standard clock. I am not sure what you are using to OC but CCC and AMD GPU are no were as good as ATI TOOL. If you do not increase vgpu (I think it starts around 860 GPU, 1.2XXV) you will not notice much difference. In any case have a good night.

Were you able to get AA running with that game? If not try using Box 4x and see how it fairs?

Temps on the GPU are 55C under load, but the ram and circuitries need better cooling.. gets up to 61C now @ 1.2v from stock 1.15v.

I'm going to get some ramsinks for it in the next week or two and after that should be able to push it to 950 or higher on the core. She has a lot more voltage headroom.. some guys are having to feed 1.4v to her to get her at the clocks I'm at now on 1.2v.

Hoping for 1GHz/1GHz when all is done. :D

I think the 2900xt is a great card for the adventurous overclocker that already have the h2o system installed ,atleast if expecting GTX performance.Since i moved my gtx into this pc awaiting RMA i really notice how important good airflow is when running air only.This is a small antec case with a p4 3.2 and i cant keep the sidepanel on with my gtx in it,even without it on my gtx idles at 68 c compared to 50-55 in my p180 case with 4x120mm fans.In this there's just one 120mm exhuast fan so i have to use a 12 inch table fan at full tilt to get the idle temps in the mid 50's.:thumbdwn:

Also, how do these hotfixes work? Do you have to uninstall your current driver set and install these instead?

Nope, AA didnt work for me too. You can overwrite driver with these, no need to uninstall.
