Personnaly, I wish it was a forum rule that arguments are to be taken out of threads they are started in and given their thread in a folder called "My Dick is Bigger" abd if they didn't, instant suspension no matter who they were, so that threads dont get hi-jacked like this one has some many damn times. This way, the 2 or more parties involved can go at it full tilt until they give up, one is declaired the winner or it gets so out of hand they both get a 7 day suspension to cool off. Either way, it would be better than having threads hi-jacked.

I really don't want to get into this because I've already have someone do what others are doing to Xion. Okay maybe he had problems with his G80 and maybe he didn't (I've had my fair share that's for sure) and maybe his bancmarks at times vary from what others are getting. How ever to say Xion is full of BS is just not right.
Xion has been more than fair to post screen shots of different games to give users the general performance of a x2900 and yet everyone thinks he's a fan boy. I don't think he's once told anyone to stop using NVIDIA and use ATI, he just was burned and decided to go with ATI and has been having a good experience he wants to share. Does he have to be instantly branded a dumbass or incompotent because not every one agrees with his SS's? Not to mention why do so many people instantly say someones a dumb sh!t because his screen shots don't live up to your standards.
Okay rant over but keep up the great information Xion, I've been loving all the shots posted here. I think with a lot of driver tweaking and some true DX10 games we'll see the x2900 do better than it has. It definetaly looks like a good card for it's price that's for sure. Can't wait to see ATI's refresh and NVIDIA's new line! :captnkill:

Ok I didn't know COJ worked on XP. And, it's a freaking fun game to play. I might buy this one. Although I am not really impressed with the graphics. I like the game play and game mood. I also like the bullet time effect when you draw your pistols. And, I though bullet time was dead in FPS games :afro2:

That said I never refuted or denied his findings only his manner forced me to ignore the meat of of his arguement which in fact is not a well thought out benchmarking schema, I agreed with what he will find in some of the benchmarks that were done, and if he wants to be more forthcoming and better respected he should change his manner of approach and his benchmarking technique. Of course all that was missing since it happened over a week or two ago, so I don't expect you to know that, and it continued over at Rage starting yesterday where some of his posts were deleted because of the nature of insults and name calling he used.

The only "insults" I was guilty of was making the joking crack that you were on Nvidia's payroll with the way you were parading around the forum refuting anything postive said about the R600 at every turn. And I'm not the only one who called you biased and overly negative toward ATI or the subject of R600. For example,

Get lost and stop derailing thread, I have reported your posts to the mods, and PMed them personally, they should take the apporiate response this time I hope. It's odd that this is the 2nd game inwhich AA is grayed out. Lost Planet also has AA grayed out and it's odd.
did you try the hot fixes?
Or AA works through the control panel.

Xion if you decide to try this game could you confirm if AA is working for you?

I don't have CoJ yet, but I can confirm that AA still isn't working in Lost Planet whether you try to force it through the driver or in-game. Still looks incredible, though. It probably has the cleanest "no AA" look of any game that I've ever seen, although I'd still like the option.
Keep in mind that I'm running DX9 and XP. I've heard guys who are running in Vista can enable AA just fine.
[Edit:]They did fix the resolution problem, however. Runs at 1680x1050 just fine, which cleans most of the jaggies up.

As always, I tried to snap some busy shots with lots of characters and special effects captured on-screen. I'm not a believer in snapping easy shots just to get a high framerate. Sometimes I will snap a few in order to capture the flow of the game, but I try to stay away from that practice for the most part.
You might notice a few jaggies in these shots, though they're not nearly as pronounced as most other titles when no AA is applied. The game looks really clean at 1680x1050 even w/ no AA. I kept the screens the original size and of good quality so that everyone would be able to get a good taste of the IQ this game has to offer on the 2900 as well as to show that there aren't many jaggies at all when no AA is applied, so I would ask those of you on slower connections to bear with me, because I felt this was important. I tried like crazy to get AA enabled on these new drivers, and it's just not working. Hopefully ATi will come out w/ a fix soon, but I might be switching to Vista soon, anyway, as AA appears to be working just fine in Vista for 2900 owners. From what I've seen so far, ATI appears to be delegating a little more effort toward Vista drivers.
The Base level ran exceptionally well--even with this ginormous Akrid in the scenes ripping up everything in site. He would bust through walls and floors, and concrete blocks and panels would just go flying all over the place. Framerate was solid throughout.. usually over 55fps, which was really impressive considering how detailed he is along with the environment. That along with the motion blur just make everything look and feel so real. The game is truly incredible.
The following are a fraps recording of minimum, average, and maximum framerate on that level along with some snapshots I was able to capture along the way. I skipped all the cutscenes so as not to throw off the frapslog. I wanted only game action to be recorded, so what you see below is based on nothing but gameplay.

Mind posting up benches with FRAPs and a few screens from using HDR at HIGH? I'd like to see what sort of performance hit if any the card takes.

The games use of motion blur helps a lot with that. :) In the Dx10 version, the motion blur is a bit done better and there appears to be more particle effects. ;) And of course the Cave level uses Geometry Shaders and Dx10 Instancing while the Dx9 version is limited to Parrallax Mapping and Dx9 instancing.

english isn't my first language, and my spelling isn't the greatest, but I don't needed to be dared, Xion's benchmarks which he wants everyone to believe are crap if you look at it from an analytical or comparative view. If he standerdized them yeah I will accept them, if not, I'm not going to accept them like he wants me to, he seems to like calling people names when they aren't accepted. I called him on that, and it pissed him off more, he is a very mature poster.......
Tell you the truth I don't think he understands what standerdized or scientific method, mean, thats the problem. So far all he has shown me is tests done on different systems, with different demos at different stages with no coherent testing methodology, if he wanted to just show or ask for me to look at his own tests fine, but to do a comparative analaysis with another's system with out controls that I have mentioned is going to create errors or a very low confidence interval.

See but this is were I think your off base, why does a gaming benchmark need to be done in a scientific manor? Now I'm sure you'll call me stupid but most reviews sites are done in sterile environments, meaning those machines aren't used every day like a normal joe would. I take these shots more literaly than I would a review site, how ever what I do is take shots from post like these, compare them to my results and those of legit review sites. I only have a few sites I would really say are legit by the way.
How ever you want to throw it, these tests that Xion, Sammy Sung and others have done mean as much as a review at Anandtech. No they may not be consistent or 100% accurate in their methods by testing the same areas but you get the general idea of a game running on a system that wasn't steralized and built soley for benchmarking a product. Not to mention I'm sure Xion is constantly tweaking his system which makes things ever more reliable because that means that with a little adjustment I can make my 8800GTX or x2900 run better.
Razor1 you really just seem like a NVIDIA fan boy who can't have his card's honor insulted. I don't think that for one minute Xion thinks that the 8800GTX is crap or any NVIDIA product for that matter. Sorry but I think your really here just to cause trouble and nothing more, just my opinion.
