1st run: Stock
2nd run: OC'd
Same settings as yours. Same race.
So your overclock nets you close to 10 higher avg fps, nice 1 :) With your o/c the performance in TDU is virtually identical.
On a sidenote Xion, you know all my overclocking problems i had ? They were all down to my prior mobo's memory controller being bad all along. The new one is stable at 1400 fsb@3150mhz at standard voltage, havent pushed it higher but im sure it can do more. The old one never got past 1200fsb without bluescreens and dataloss.

This game ran like crap on the G80 with launch drivers,i had tons of slowdows/drops into the teens on some maps/locations.All those issues have been fixed since the 1xx series drivers though and it runs great.

Xion,
Your recent "Oblivion" benches were with iMinGrass @ 110 or @ its default value of 80?
Grass mod enabled same as before. I always enable the grass mod when I'm playing Oblivion on a single card as the performance without it is unacceptable to me.. even on the GTX. Adaptive was still disabled because of the performance hit it currently causes.
One note about the tent modes, since I know you've inquired about them before and I haven't tested them much. Narrow/Wide tent both play about the same on Oblivion, and I've noticed that with Narrow Tent, it seems to take care of some of the flickering/shimmering in the middle of distant textures. It does a better job of this than even 8xAA does, so I may be playing it in this mode more in the future since that's a slight annoyance of mine. When I was in Anvil, for example, I could see the gray bricks high up on the lighthouse shimmer a little even w/ 8xAA enabled. When I reduced AA to 4x and enabled Narrow Tent, it took care of the problem. They barely shimmered at all, and all edges were smoothed over very well. I haven't noticed any of this "blurring" effect that people talk about, either.
Temporal AA gives some games a significant performance boost over regular AA with apparently around the same IQ, but occasionally it makes certain texture joints artifact a little.
And while I am here:
GRAW 2 SP. I lose 8-10FPS using Vista x64 vs XP SP2.
I'll try downloading that demo sometime today.

Looking good, Sammy. Looks like your new platform is flying through all these games. You're getting much better performance now than you were before, aren't you? I remember you posting screens of Test Drive @ 50fps before compared to 59 now. Is it playing all of your games faster?

Yea they are, everything is smoother somehow, something was definatly wrong with the memory controller on the last mobo, not only the reason for the board dying on me but also the slightly subpar performance over the past 6 months .This board rocks sofar, very pleased with it.680i seems to be a bit of a crapshoot, this time i think i got a keeper:)

I thought you benched some outdoor "Oblivion" areas without grass mods earlier in the thread. I don't remember you mentioning it when you were using the first driver set.
It's definitely worth noting iMinGrass settings besides the installed default normal value of 80 when you post outdoor "Oblivion" benches because any grass within draw distance will impact FPS. Not noting grass mods is very misleading, particularly where outdoor benches are concerned.
I've clearly demonstrated iMinGrass 110 vs 80 boosts FPS nicely in very heavy grass with my overclocked GTX. I am normally @ 32FPS (8xAA|16xAF 1680x) and up even in very heavy grass with iMinGrass 80 so I see no need for a mod.
Save 199 would be a good example of this:
http://members.cox.net/malficar3/Save%20199%20-%20Corvexius%20Lydon%20-%20The%20Great%20Forest,%20Level%208,%20Playing%20 Time%2004.12.32.ess
BTW you can not always rely on FRAPS. I started a bench during normal play of the "GRAW 2" SP demo, I died once and went back to the starting point. The death screen caused my average FPS to be logged as 356. :p Also some people look at the sky, walls etc etc.
I believe my time is done in this thread and the "other cards" section.

No, no.. you're misunderstanding me.
In benchmarking, the mod hasn't been enabled.. only when I'm playing for enjoyment. :)
If you go back and look at our previous benches, you can clearly see that there's just as much grass present, because I wasn't using the mod at the time. Right now I am playing through the game for enjoyment and have the mod enabled, but when benchmarking against others, no, of course I don't have it enabled. I took those latest shots while on the fly while playing the game and didn't want to go back into the ini to reset it. I figured it wouldn't make much of a difference anyway, since I was just comparing AA performance with my own setup and no one else's.
In the future I'll try to be more specific with that. I'll state whether or not I'm using the mod, but it hasn't been enabled in any of the earlier benchmarks that we've been doing. I've just recently started playing through the game for enjoyment and recorded those shots at Anvil.
And again, I'm aware of that and haven't been using it to bench with. You can clearly tell when the mod is enabled, because it thins the grass out quite a bit. Most of the Oblivion benches we have been conducting have been in heavy grass, no? Easy to tell. That's how we found out that fivefeet8 had the vegetation mod that one time.
BTW you can not always rely on FRAPS. I started a bench during normal play of the "GRAW 2" SP demo, I died once and went back to the starting point. The death screen caused my average FPS to be logged as 356. :p Also some people look at the sky, walls etc etc.
Menu screens cause it to jump; there's nothing you can do about that. That's one of the reasons I've also been posting screenshots with the framerate counter in the corner. They show it's very close to the average in most cases. You can also tell by looking at the max in frapslog, most of the time, whether or not someone benched with a menu up. I mentioned that in the Call of Duty 2 bench that I posted earlier. The mission ended, I hit the F11 key a second too late, and voila. One second of 512fps recorded on the max, since the log writes once per second of gameplay.
It's also hard to play through missions while looking at the sky or while racing a track, don't you think? :p
You can't do this w/ Call of Duty, because you'll get ripped apart by the enemy soldiers, and you certainly can't do this with Test Drive because you're racing on a track with a set camera that you can't rotate.
Again, I've covered every base that I know to cover; it's up to you guys what you will/will not believe from my benches. All I can say is that I've been as honest as I know to be. I have posted in-game screenshots; I have posted frapslogs w/ recorded times that you guys can verify by playing through missions/races, etc yourselves to see if the expired time matches or is at least close. I have even recorded my clocks and posted shots of that so you knew if I was overclocked or not.
I don't know what else I can do, and honestly, whether or not anyone believes me is something that I can't worry about. Some asked me to bench the card for an idea of performance, and that's what I've been doing. I don't know about you, but I don't just automatically trust review sites either. You don't know what goes on behind the scenes.

Did a Few TDU runs with 3 different drivers:158.22,162.18,165,01
Settings are the same in all of them:
Testdrive Unlimited
1680x1050 / Xp
4xAA ingame
HDR on
Max detail ingame
8xAF Hq
Cpu / GTX stock
F-class race:Its all in the slide
80 second fraps run
158.22 :
2007-07-08 13:14:08 - TestDriveUnlimited
Frames: 4506 - Time: 80000ms - Avg: 56.325 - Min: 44 - Max: 68
162.18 :
2007-07-08 12:48:21 - TestDriveUnlimited
Frames: 4658 - Time: 80000ms - Avg: 58.225 - Min: 43 - Max: 72
165.01 :
2007-07-04 23:24:11 - TestDriveUnlimited
Frames: 4729 - Time: 80000ms - Avg: 59.113 - Min: 42 - Max: 73
The 16x.xx series runs the game on avg the same, perhaps a small edge for the 165 while 158.22 is concistently slower by 2-4 avg fps so theres still room for improvments even with the G80.
I'm using 162.18 now since its the latest driver,no issues with it at all sofar.
I also did a run using the 162.18 with 4xAA/16xAF HQ with transparencey ms enabled:
2007-07-08 13:56:53 - TestDriveUnlimited
Frames: 4491 - Time: 80000ms - Avg: 56.138 - Min: 44 - Max: 67
Eventhough this uses 4xAA 16xAF HQ+ Transparency ms and drops 2 fps avg,its still equal to the 158.22 with 4xAA 8xAF HQ ,pretty good imo
Screens are all 4xAA/8xAF HQ 162.18:

Im using the 162.18's right now as they seem to be the best for Lost Planet. Actually they seem to be the best drivers I have used so far period and I have played around with all of them.
System Specs:
E6600@3.4ghz
4gbs Gskill 850mhz 4 4 4 5
BFG 8800GTX
Asus P5B delux Wifi
Windows XP Home Edition
I have not ran a bench yet with TDU and Fraps but judging by your screen shots it seems that we are pretty close. I may run a timed bench test with fraps later.

I think your scores will be higher,im still @ 2400mhz.Its kinda odd,i had tons of issues with my first 2 GTX's and also the first 2 mobo's in this rig, sofar for both its looks like third time the charm,im stable,no heat issues and can o/c to 3150+ on default vcore .Kinda scared to do more than brief tests though,6 RMA's since december each taking a few weeks takes its toll on you.

Well i guess this thread is dead now since Xion got banned, sad and unfortunate,it was fun while it lasted though(minus the arguing and people crapping on this thread with the sole purpose of causing trouble).I wonder what it is with computer hardware and consoles that makes people argue so much, like the console battle with nintendo/sony/ms the ATI/Nvidia battle rages on and people gets really worked up about it.If any other 2900 user wants to continue im all for that, otherwise i guess this just died :thumbdwn:

Xion will be back- he is only on a two week ban. Main reason was because he could not walk away from a fight. Sometimes it is necessary to just let things just roll off your back.
Though I agree with every claim he made (for the most part)... I'm not going to argue with the authorities of this site. They used their best judgement, and that meant that Xion got a temp- ban (a vacation if you will).
Regardless, I'm still looking forward to his return. Hopefully he'll have some new bench results for us then! :p
The thing is not to take it too personally and start to abuse other members.
That is not what we expect of our member..civility is the order of the day in non-PF sections

And I agree whole-heartedly with you MUYA. Hence my comment about Xion not being able to resist an argument. He does indeed need to learn to just let some things roll off his back. But, I am not a judge so I try hard not to judge others. ;)
Anywho, here's hoping this thread survives till his return. :D

So I suppose it was ok for Razor1 to continue the arguing and be abusive yet no action is taken against him?
Justice? yeah whatever:rolleyes2

You only see what you want to see too i guess. We have more information than you and the reason for XionX2's ban will remain with us and its just not what you have witnessed here. There are many that were tiredof his "broken record" behavior. We tolerated his behavior like long enough by giving him breaks. There is a time when enough is enough when a member really steps out f=of line and we give that member a short break. This is such an occasion. Hopefully he comes back.. a little less stressed.
Guess they say "never judge a book by its cover". There are always two sides to one story. You only have the surface issues not the complete and are really guessing.
:rolleyes2
These forums are private also. It is a privilege to post here not anyones right so we ask members behave.
There are always two sides to one story.
Well thats cool man and I understand that, however it only appears that one side is being looked at.
Its pretty clear that Razor1 followed Xion X2 over to nvnews.net with no other goal other than to troll and start problems. Which he did, and no one seems to care or do anything about it.
If Xion X2 gets a vacation then it only seems fair that Razor1 gets the equal sentence since he is no less innocent in any of this and is just as much involved.
actually Xion called me out here on serveral occasions, got into an arguement with me, where the arguement wasn't even his to begin with, not to mention that arguement was over when he decided to join into it at Rage. He got a warning there for trolling and name calling, the mods deleted his posts, the abusive ones,
He tried to start something up with me again just a day ago at Rage, but didn't, because he took things in a wrong way again. And if you want to see some of his PM's where he said he was going to follow me over there and start something?
the list goes on..... Why are you getting involved in something you shouldn't be, you are acting very similiar to Xion..... :thumbdwn:

Im getting involved because what I have seen so far isnt right in the fact that you are just as guilty for following him over here to this forum and out right trolling and causing issues.
Bud I dont know who told you that you were innocent but they are wrong and imo you should get no less of a punishment.

Can you blame him? after all you followed him over here so I dont see why you are so shocked that he would say that.

I'm not saying I'm innocent, actually I was the one who said I was acting as much of an ass as Xion was so is that a problem for you? I accepted that I was, I knew I was, but there is some latitude to defend myself, if someone is coming at me the way Xion was. If I continue the way I was with others, I'm sure I would have gotten the same punishment as Xion did if not worse, because I'm not a distiguished member here.
