No such thing as luck.lol

Not quite. I have had enough genuine bad luck to write a book. I'll let you know, I'm shopping for a publisher. :D

Very nice. XP or Vista? AA and AF settings?

AA has to be forced on the UE3 engine for now, so unless its possible to force it through control panel, it isn't going to happen ;) , still dling the damn thing, 1.8 gigs for a demo damn.....

Ok well thats nice and all but he still left out his AA and AF settings. I just wanted to know what they were as its important info to have when people are benching.

BTW RAZOR AA works in BIOSHOCK under XP but not under Vista ATM just to clear things up.

I went back and looked at his shots for a good while. AA is not in use.

looks like AA hits the g80 pretty hard, probably doing supersampling. The hit looks like 40-50%.

Nah I doubt he has supersampling turned on. I say that because just running 2XAA with no Transparency AA takes a fairly large hit with my 8800GTX and Bioshock. Its nothing like the other games at all where you can throw 8-16XAA without it hurting performance that much.

Im thinking that Bioshock uses some kind of software enabled AA so it probably was not intended to be running with forced hardware AA thus the performance hit.

I drop about 10 FPS with AA on.

Yeah so do I, even with just 2XAA. This game seems to take a far far bigger hit with forced AA than any other game I have played.

Im pretty sure the game is using its own form of software based AA as it really doesnt look as bad as other games without AA.

Firingsquad did some Bioshock benches with the latest drivers including beta's and hotfixes from both camps. The results are sorta expected at this interval.

xbitlabs shows that in those three games, the 2900XT beats out the 8800GTX (EDIT: my mistake, i put down ultra first, got two reviews mixed up)

Say what?

First off all there is only the GTX in those tests (no Ultra).

Also once you turn on AA the 2900 XT loses.

They didn't bench an 8800 ultra. It doesn't beat the 8800gtx in all 3 games either. The 8800gtx wins in both COJ and Lost Planet. But there's something wrong with those benches.

Xbitlabs usually does some great benches, but those look like very poor benchmarks. How does a x2900xt 1gig be 2x faster than it's 512 meg brethren(lost planet mode2 benches) with the exact same core speeds? And why did they enable Transparency MSAA for Nvidia cards but failed to list if they enabled Adaptive for the R6xx?

An 8800gtx runs faster at 1900x1200 with 4xAA than at 1600x1200 with 4xAA in COJ dx10 mode2? Also, it seems they benched with a non patched Lost Planet without the new Dx10 effects and performance improvements to shadow quality setting of "HIGH" and "Dx10".

I didn't know that Company of Heroes had issues running FSAA in Dx9 and Dx10? The game runs fine with FSAA enabled in both modes on my end.

Took some new shots from the Bioshock-demo with settings and some locations similar to Obies, his shots are kinda dark awith not much going on in them so i wanted a performance comparison. In light of the recent tests where the 2900 had roughly half of the GTX fps i would think his card is o/c'ed quite a bit since our fps looks very much the same for the most part.

@Sammy sung

You know this is what I try to tell people. You cant look at a review and think its the gospel. Now you name the graphics card lol I have it. I put my ati x1900 in cus I wanted to see how it would run. All at 1920x1200 and in the water about where you took your pic it says about 25fps. Now stuck in the HD2900 (cus my 8800 was about the same as yours) and the 2900 in about the same place gave me on my system 68fps. And inside up in the 100's. LOL I cant find ANY place to get the 2900 to 30fps. I saw my fps at 120 one time and yet at the review they said I think 30-85 and 85 being the max. Now my system is AMD 6000+ and I forgot if theres is faster but. So I'm not here to lol say ANYTHING. If you google nvnews its says "Welcome to nV News - An NVIDIA Fansite". So NV rocks it rules its the best blah blah.. just playing. For those that dont know NV came out with 3d drivers that work on the 8800 YES!
