We should do some comparisons of overclocked cards on air cooling first. ;)

I wasn't wanting him to compare his overclocked results. I was just wanting to see his over clocked results.

Had to dig this out since i never tried it on my GTX ,my previous x850xt didnt support next gen content, seems to take a hefty performance hit compared to the new anniversary game.I dont even know if the engines are the same, the new one lacks the next gen content but this one seems to go to town in the effects department.(And lara looks much nicer here:p )

I want to see some overclocking comparisons in actual games. Nothing to do with what you wanted. :p

Oh. I was just asking to see what OC he managed to achieve, and possibly some results of how the OC boosted his performance. I wasn't really looking for a direct comparison between his card oc'd and anybody else's- though that wouldn't be a bad thing. :D

Redeemed, I'd say that case outta take care of your cooling problems.
If that doesn't fix it, then maybe we can call up Sub Zero and see if he can cast a cold spell on your processor.
I've seen them before and was always curious how well they worked. I'd imagine they'd work really well. You'll have to report back after you get it up and running and tell us.
No problem about the finances; I know what that's like. Sometimes you have to pinch pennies and get by. Keep your priorities straight. Eventually I had to learn that it's okay not to have the best of everything.

Sorry, but I'm not overclocking this card with as hot as it runs already until I get it on water. I don't have many case fans since I watercool, and it's already running really hot under full load as it is.
I need this 2900 to last me for a while. No more time for RMA's; I use this card for my business also and not just to benchmark with.

Yep a stock GTX will handle TRL well at 1680x with a good degree of filtering and next gen content on. I had a great time replaying it after I got my card.

Thanks man- I appreciate hearing that.
I'll be honest, my car is needing a lot of work badly. It isn't falling apart, by I'm several months late on its checkup, it needs new shocks, needs new brakes, needs new tires- just haven't been able to keep up on it. If I went water cooling before long I'd have a rig that'd pwn all yours combined but I'd end up walking everywhere as a result. :p Don't want that to happen. As you said, gotta' have your priorities right- and the car comes before the gaming rig. Also I need to start putting money aside for this next semester. Yippie! :p
As for the case, yeah- it should do the trick. I'll let you know how it turns out. I still might go WC with this current setup- that tower will be large enough to where I could have the radiator and what not all inside the case without it looking sloppy. That'd be sweet. :D I'll keep you posted on how it turns out.

Grrrr. Now I'm getting the urge to bench TRL out of curiosity. And just when I was about to go to bed.

It's very addictive and one of my favorite games. Get "Knights of the Nine" and the "Shivering Isles" to add on. You'll be busy for a while. Also makes sure you do all the side quests. They have many. If you haven't patched 1.2, that's a good idea too, it improves distant land LOD.

Oblivion will take over your whole life if you let it. When it first came out I spent the first week and about 67 hours doing nothing but that. Just the original game has 250+ hours worth of gameplay w/ all the side quests.

Yeah, it's fully patched.
With what I've seen of this game, I'm pretty confident that I'm going to get the expansions- after I beat this one... which will probably take till the sequal of Crysis! :p God this is like a complete planet on DVD! I'm supposed to go deliver some medalion to some dude. You know, the one off the King? Well, I took off in the opposite direction as soon as I got out of the sewers. Been exploring ever since. I rescued that one dude from his painting already- that was wierd. :p
Loving this game. I can see why this game is so difficult to finnish... it's almost like there's a never ending supply of stuff to do and explore.
I would just like to know a few things though- how and where can I buy horses? I got to this one place with a lady sitting outfront, and she told me to "Go inside if I wished to buy a horse." But when I tried the door was locked. So where can I get me a a horse?
Also- FRAPS doesn't seem to working. I have it running, but the FPS counter wont show up even if I press the "shortcut key" to display the counter in-game. As a result I can't use FRAPS to take any screenshots. :( Any ideas why this might be?

Good God!
Well, I'm not ADD, but I know I'll lose interest well before I accomplish all the sidetasks. I can't play the same game for 250+ hours. I might be in my 30s before I finish this game. :p And I'm only 20 now.

IF you think vanilla oblivion with official addons provides alot of gamehours, try usermade mods, some very good ones out there.

You know, I'll probably have to pass on that. This game could easily control one's life if it were allowed to. I'm not gonna' do that. :p
Vanilla Oblivion will suffice. I'm already spending enough time gaming as is. Oblivion is just gonna' make it worse. :p

You don't need FRAPS to bench "Oblivion". If you want to save screens you need to remember to start it and run it as an Admin under Vista though. At least that's been true for x64. Under Vista x64 I had to install FRAPS as an admin and run it as an admin for it to work correctly. I also had to create another folder to store its screenshots. For some reason they would not save in the default location. I made a folder called "benches" and pointed the app there for captures.
Go under documents-my games-"Oblivion". Open the "Oblivion" file there with notepad. Find [Display], under it bAllowScreenShot, set that to 1. Printscreen will now save your screenshots to the "Oblivion" game folder under program files.
In game press the tilde key to bring up the console and type tdt. That will display FPS. If it's raining or overcast and you want clear weather for screenshots, ForceWeather 00038EEE in the console will clear it up for a time.
As far as buying things, places have "store hours". That's why the door is locked. Don't try to buy at 4am in the morning. Press T and wait hours that would put you any time between 9am-5pm. Same thing goes for seeing the ruling nobles. If you go to see them late they will be absent from their thrones and in bed. You can always chill on their thrones while they are away if you like :p
Talk to everyone in game and don't be afraid to bribe them with gold if you have some extra and your faction is low. If you have good speechcraft, that's another way to raise faction. Use a joke, flattery, or intimidation. Watch their face before you select the action. If they are prone to like it, they will smile, if not they will frown. If the expression doesn't change they are indifferent. Of course using speechcraft will raise it.
The game has a lot of "hidden content" and it is very deep in that regard. So the more time you take to learn it, the more you will get out of it. I actually enjoyed the side quests and BS stuff more than the main story.
I highly recommend reading this tweak guide-
