Hi guys,

These days I'm busy gravedigging some old tech demos for old hardware.

I've come across a few demos made for the Kyro II cards they won't start on anything else giving me the error "This demo runs only on Kyro cards",

Since these demos appear to be based on plain DirectX it seems it's just a case of the program performing an DeviceID check. Doaes anybody want to give them a try and see if it can run them ?

The topmost demos are really old and will run on any card supporting embm, dot3 and multitextureing (some demos will require a card capable of applying up to 8 textures in a single pass (!) which was a distinctive feature of the PowerVR architecture since the days of the Dreamcast) but the last were released around 2001-2002 for the ill fated Kyro II-Se

I recall having seen the demo "Kyroenergy" in action and it was really cool. Too bad it won't work on my GF card for the said problem.

I don't know if it works, but have you tried 3DAnalyzer? To change your card into a Kyro? (If that old card is supported)

Yes, I've tried setting the VendorID to 0x104a (which is ST) and the DeviceID to 0x010 (which is for the first Kyro).

I haven't come acorss drivers for the Kyro IIse, so I don't know if using a more appropriate string might do the job

is there an ini to edit?

a while ago, i came across some wireless NIC drivers that would only install on a Dell PC. Lame.

So, i found the ini and removed the part that was looking for a dell. all fixed
