I know this has been posted before but this rundown looks pretty good. I have always used on board sound and don't know much about sound cards. Tell me what you guys think about this.

how can ASUS have a "win" in EAX effects if it only supports EAX 2.0

don't the marketing people realize that EAX 5.0 is backwards compatible? meaning it supports EAX 2.0, EAX 3.0, EAX 4.0 and EAX 5.0

plus looking at the info, they don't mention anything about directsound3d to openAL wrapper.

i will keep my x-fi for now, lets see what Auzentech does with Prelude!!

nekrosoft13 heres the info u were looking for its at the bottom of that page, at least this supports eax unlike my audigy 2 in vista (or any audigy series card for that matter) that creative has totaly abandoned and im not sure the xfi fully complies with eax in vista yet, does it? I do agree however about the win for eax is total bs, even though there are fewer titles a friend of mine has an xfi and eax5 sounds awesome but were not going to see many new advancements or much support for games with eax for a while, at least in vista.

I thought that all the Audigy range supported OpenAL http://www.openal.org/platforms.html

Nowhere does it say that the ASUS card supports EAX in Vista, and I am willing to bet that it does not without some sort of software translater.

EAX in vista is alive and well, EAX can be used through OpenAL. But like jAkUp said, no where on that slide does it mention vista or EAX for DirectSound3d games. I know DirectSound is pretty much dead in vista, but there are still tons of titles currently being played and sold that use DS3D.

only way to get EAX to work in those games in vista is with Alchemy right now. When i first installed vista and was using Audigy 2 i right away noticed that games sounded different.

Thats why i have HIGH hopes for new Auzentech card, which looks like will combine superrior audio quality and features with EAX and Alchemy.

I really wish Asus well, we need more competition in Audio, but i just don't see this card being used for gamming, at least not now. When 90% of games out right now use DS3D.

well I learned something new....and sorry I assumed vista compliant but your right it isn't the case and I should have looked it up before I mentioned it.
