Hi there.. I just replaced my gf3ti200 with a gf4ti4600 . Both cards are pny.

system amd 1800+ / 512 ddr 2100 / win 98se

after the install and the update to the new drivers from nvidia 43.45 drivers. I am getting NO.. I REPEAT NO performance increase at all.

Everyone that I talk to that is running virtually the same setup is blowing my machine away as far as performance. The only difference is that they are running XP or 2k pro.

Could the OS be holding the performance of my video back? I heard that 98 cannot handle anything more than 512 meg.. And adding 128 to it though the video card is just choking the machine.

Any ideas? I put my old gf3ti200 in my brothers computer that is IDENTICAL to mine save for the OS.. And my old gf3 is out performing the new gf4. The gf3 is on a 2k machine.. and again mine is a win 98se machine. HELP!!!!!!

Jsut a suggestion. Revert back to the 41.09 driver set. I haven't had so much as a hiccup with those.

It's true that there are problems with more than 512 MB RAM, but that doesn't include the video card's memory.

What settings are you using in the driver? Ie. the Application/Quality/Performance slider. Are you sure both systems are using the same antialiasing and anisotropic filtering settings? You've checked what AGP setting you're on?

Actually it isnt problems with MORE than 512, it 512 OR more...

Do a google search for work around options(there are a few). If your using a via based board(ypu should post full system specs when asking for tech help) make sure you're using at least version version 4.35 of the 4n1 drivers.

Post back with more questions or needed advice.

FIXED IT!!!

Okay.. Here is wut I did..

Reformatted and reloaded the system with win2k. (figured it was about time anyways)

Updated the bios on my asus a7v-266 mobo to the current bios
Verified that my agp slot was set to 4x (doesnt support 8x hence new mobo soon)
installed directx9
installed new 43.45 drivers

Checked and verified all these settings. Thanx for the input.

Now my brothers machines scores about 350 fps. Mine 940 fps on the same test.

Also another quick question... This is a pny gf4-ti-4600. However win 2k, when you go into the adapter settings.. It shows that it is a 4800. Does anyone know why this is?

Did it come with the box and everything or was it OEM? 4800 is just the same as 4600 anyway, except for AGP 8x support added.
