Is there a reason to hook up your vid card to your sound card?

I was cleaning out my cables today and notice that i have one that would connect an input on my vid card to a input on my sound card?. Is this even done? or is it just a coincendence?

(both are like 5 pin mini midi inputs)

Usually you only run inputs to outputs and vice-versa from my experiences.... :confused:

Many ports use the same physical interface but have very different uses. Ever noticed how similair PS/2, S-VHS, and mini-DIN ports look? I think that's probably what you were seeing.

You may have a connector for 3D goggles. I've seen goggles that uses the same plug as on a pair of walkman headphones.
