can someone tell me how i get to the shell icon cache? i need to delete it becuase i have some icons on desktop that are corrupted/not displaying correct icons with them. im using windowsxp home edition.

Download TweakUI (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp) and go to "Repair", then check "Rebuild Icons" and your problem should be solved.

go to the Windows directory. the file you're looking for is "ShellconCache"

browse you computer's C: drive(or whatever drive has your operating system installed on, usually it's C: unless you have more than one drive and installed it on a different one) and then go to the Windows folder ;)

folder = directory

i did exactly as you said C:drive then to windows folder...in the windows folder there is no shelliconcache or shellcon or shellconcache anywhere. i even enabled "display hidden files and folders"(from view options) and still no luck.

hmm, sorry, i'm not sure if the ShellconCache file exists in winXP, my mistake :o
