I was digging through my parent's basement and stumbled across one of my favorite games as a kid. Amazingly the disks still work! I checked on ebay and this old game is selling for $70-80?!?!? I never thought people would actually pay for older games that probably have emulators somewhere...

Anyone remember playing this?

There was one other Ultima that was set in a prehistoric time, that was even more fun from what I recall...

I have played almost all of the ultima games. Ultima: Martian Dreams is in my top three.

Ultima II was my fav. It had it all; Time Doors, Space Travel, Balrons. I would love a 3d remake of that game.

I missed that one I think I was 5 or 6 years old when it came out...

Here's the other World of Ultima game I was talking about:

^ The Savage Empire and Martian Dreams both had similar feels to them, although I think the terrain was more widely varied in the Savage Empire.

U9 broke my heart,I bought it the day of release, and it was a bug ridden slide show. And I had a damn fast system at the time. The patches did little to nothing.I remember the long list of bug fixes in the readme file that came with the biggest of them,it was endless, and still it ran like a bug ridden mess.

Years later,I reinstalled it with the final patch, and although it then rarely crashed, with 2 gigs of ram and a GF4 TI 4400 it was still a slide show,no matter the res I ran it at !

Ohh god, you just brought back fond memories. I love that Ultima game, it was so great and I still remember it quite well. It's really sad honestly, games were so good back then but now a days it's really hard to find winners like the early games. There are still companies that produce them but they are fewer and farther apart. It's all about money now a days. Thanks J-Mag for bringing back some fond memories. :D

Sad but so true, I had high hope for Ultima 9. Shodan do you remember some of the early screen shots of this game? They were really nice graphics but it had an isometric view like past Ultima games. But EA got there grubby little bastage hands on it and butchered the last title in the series. :(

Yea. They are more buggy and usually run slower when its out..but its amazing how things have come so far..and then you think...how will it be in another 10 years :O...
