I doubt it will be cheap and may be beyond HD cost/GB ratio when first released.

I'm getting a SATA drive to fully remove IDE from my system when I go WC (can't have that damn thing in the way!) but I don't plan on using DL media. Maybe it'll drive the existing drive prices down. :D

Dual layer media is so expensive...cheapest I ever got mine for was $1 per disc, and that was because I waited until the day before compusa skipped town.

Dual Layer is great....but the media is way to expensive to make it worthwhile for me. I'm sticking with single layer for now. 16x DL burning is pretty insane though....

What good is Dual layer when all DVDs now only have data up to 4.7GB anyway?

You mean Canada? Why would you do something like that now when US$ and C$ have 1:1 exchange rates.

Huh?

Dual layer is good because it goes above the single layer 4.7gb limit! It's sometimes nice to burn a heap of data to just the ONE disc. It saves time and space.

You do know movies are released on dual layers discs? Even some games are. Act of War was the first I bought that was dual layered. ALL DVDs are limited to 4.7gb? That's outrageous.

I do. I cause I'm running a import/export trading business. Anyways, I wouldn't buy a drive without reading some reviews from sites CDfreaks.

If you said so, I'm gonna buy a few. I saw it at a local store yesterday.
