Not much description of exactly what it does though. I'll try it anyway.

i have no idea what it does

It updates the file update.sys (on XP, used to update the microcode).
So its a microcode update for intel proc. I doubt that we will ever have more details on this update.

Flashed original P28 BIOS too, I guess it also updates the microcode of CPUs, but don't know
Every time I tried running the x64 update I got a "update does not apply to your system" message.
Checked my update history and found it already installed via auto update.
I've got a question, and I figure that this is the best place to ask it. Does anyone know if this update (KB 936357) actually updates the microcode or just patches the OS?
I've Googled all over and read this thread and the one linked in here by Steve Ballmer but I can't find a definitive and official answer. The Microsoft page, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936357, doesn't make it entirely clear.
Any help would be greatly appreciate. :afro2:
Updates the OS only. And it's already on Windows Update.
