View Full Version : Some fun with my E4300 and 965P-DS3
Congrats stncttr908
Nice OC ! I had mine up to 3.44Ghz Prime dual stable for 5 hours. That chip died a few weeks ago though. That was on a Asus P5N-E SLI with only three case fans that came with my case.I am running a E6420 from work for the next month, until the Q6600 hits, and then I am going Q6600 with 4Gigs of ram,and a new mobo.My sig mobo is a loner.I just wish I had time to use the damn thing,as work and RL are getting in the way. :(
If I can just get the chip (Q6600) to 2.99Ghz I'll be happy.Anything more is pure gravy ! Are you going quadcore when the price cuts hit ?

Wow, that's quite a bit of voltage for 3.2. :(

Otherwise not stable with orthos. 24 hours + stable at these settings
You are showing 1.425 volts there. Also, what are your temps?

I set the v core at 1.5 in BIOS. So I tend to trust that more than CPUZ. CPUZ only shows bus speeds / ram speed and overall CPU speed correctly.
My temps on ilde are measly 2X degrees celcius. On load it gets up to 4X degrees celcius....this is with orthos running. This is with the Zalman 9700 Led. However, my case is open with air conditioner on. No reason to close. :) I brush / clean each week.
I am considering a new case/ or water cooling set
I find other tools like Sisoft Sandra, Everest, 3Dmark 2006 all report my CPU incorrectly, these programs report higher because they assume I am on 10X multiplier but I am not, I am on 9X

Ok guys, here's a question. I just put together a computer today with an E4300 and the gigabyte 965P-S3. I started overclocking it and it was doing fine. I had it up to 333x9 stock voltage no problems. Then I decided to update the bios because the one it came with was from january. So I upgraded to the newest one (July 6, 2007) and now it won't overclock worth crap. Like 250x9 gets to the windows loading screen but then locks up.
I totally cleared the CMOS and redid all my settings but it still does this. What's the deal? I'm going to try the bios before that one, see if it's any better. If not, I'm going back to the original one it came with.
EDIT: Ok it looks like the new bios sucks....I went to the one before the newest one (F10) and it's overclocking just like the original one was. Sweet.

Interesting. I'm on the F11 BIOS for my DS3 and I'm having no problems.

Check out sig for update. WC got me ORTHOS stable @ 3.5, but I'm still using 3.2 as my every day clock. I can't get the bugger to boot @ 3.6 though. My v-droop is pretty severe so I may try 1.6V for kicks.
