Hi,
I recently got my hands on Redhat 9. I couldn't say anything till today. But the nv driver that comes with X 4.3.0 does not seem to work with DVI and my Geforce 4 4600. You have to add the Option "FlatPanel" for it to even recognize the DVI. But what happens is you just get a black screen. Nothing comes up. I have a Samsung 191T, and when I check it and the card is telling it to do my specified resolution (1280x1024), but nothing is coming up , just a black screen. The X logs don't say anything either, X thinks everything is ok. Hell, to install Redhat 9 I had to use text mode because the anaconda tries to launch X with the nv driver and you get the same problem. I've tried everything from lowering the resolution, color, to trying just about every option the driver has. NOTHING... It worked fine with the Nvidia driver 3123 when I was using Redhat 8. Right now I'm using analog (IT LOOKS SO BAD COMPARED TO DVI) . I would like the opensource driver to work so that , like now, I don't have to keep waiting for Nvidia closed source driver.. So please Nvidia (Andy are you listening) , please help!

My system spec:
Abit KT7A
AMD 1.2GHZ
512 MB PC 133
Winfast Geforce 4 4600
SB LIVE 5.1
Intel Etherne Pro 100

The "nv" driver is maintained by the XFree86 Project people, not nVidia!

Hey you don't have to yell. You are actually a bit wrong!, If I rember correctly , Nvidia has put work into the opensource driver (but for 2d of course) , I think I rember Andy (our favorite Nvidia guy!) saying something about it.
