View Full Version : Where to get windows-drivers for a 488Go?

Hi!

Any ideas where to get a driver for a GF-488Go? The newer legancy-driver supports it out of the box, but windows-drivers refuse to install. The chip itself is identical with the GF460Go - which is very similar to a GF4mx.

Thank you in advance, lg Clemens

Does nobody have one of those mobile Geforce4mx chipds (420, 440, 460) anymore?

You're best of getting an older driver from the nVidia driver archive and modding it with the nVidia INF mod from:

http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/

Actually you might be able to find a suitable driver for the Geforce 4 MX Go from there as well.

Does nVidia not have these on their site? If you go to the current driver page, look on the left-hand side and it will show a Driver Archive link for the older drivers from the past.

This is a laptop part so the nVidia default drivers won't work unmodified.

I solved the problem by myself by editing the inf-file, and got the 9361 driver to work without any problems.

I wonder why they restrict their drivers - the GF4Go chips are re-labeld GF4MX cards as everybody know - no idea why they make my life that hard.
The Linux driver detects this chipset out of the box, so should the windows driver :thumbdwn:

Thank you for your suggestions, lg Clemens
