Nice Review. That card is exactly what the Ultra edition should be. If they finally release the patch you'll have to get a copy of Test Drive unlimited to add to your screenies, the game looks amazing. :)

Awesome review... Great lunchtime reading :) So glad Superklye wasn't trusted with the Ultra. He is so clumsy.
Now I better run heck. :D
Fastest gaming graphics card on the planet ? i think so :D
My next purchase. Roll on end of July.
Thanks for the comments! I am planning to update the review with a few benchmark results at 1680x1050 and 1920x1200 with higher levels of AA (8xQ and 16xQ).

Good suggestion then we could take some notes and make some in-house comparisons. :D
Nice review and I especially liked that you included results for the 4800+ since that's what I'm still using. :)

Same here :D
another excellent review. thanks.
One of my mates just had to return the card as it doesn't work too well at its advertised speeds. When he clocked the gpu to 655mhz everything was fine.

You mean it artifacts by default (no messing with the clocks or anything) & you have to underclock it to 655Mhz to work correctly ?

Every overclocked card I've ever bought artifacts by default. Always had to underclock them at least by 10 mhz on the core. Never worked as advertised. I stopped buying them. My last 7800gtx512 was an xfx and it had the same problems. I just buy a stock card now and overclock it and it works fine. As a matter of fact my 8800ultra is overclocked to 650 core and 2.4 ghz memory and it runs perfect no artifacts.

Yep. So XFX sell some cards that don't work too well at their advertised speeds.

All vendors have a percentage of cards that turn out to be defective not just XFX.
Yeah, my last two cards have been overclocked versions by the manufacturer and I haven't had any problems. Matter of fact, I overclocked them more!

My previous card was a BFG 8800GTX OC,that one worked for maybe 2 hours and then refused to produce anything 3d apart from scattered red pixels.
so just to clarify this i just wanted to know if i get this ultra will i get better eye candy over my current 8800?
or will i get just not lag as bad?
i too have a 4800 just like OWA has.
