yawn, nothing that cant be done with a good engine on the CPU (HL2 EP2 and Crysis).

QFT - Crysis will be doing this with a processor, not an add in card...And who knows, maybe Nvidia will some day enable thier physics on the 8 series :P

I think it looks absolutely amazing.

I think it looks absolutely amazing.

same here. It looks incredible but I'm glad that I don't have to buy a extra card just for features like that - thank god it can be done by the cpu instead.

Hey look, Crysis level physics for only an extra $150!!!

That does look pretty cool, but the though of buying a proprietary piece of HW for $150, isn't very appealing.

Also, anyone can offer comparison video of other game engines doing similar effects?

That was impressive, but I would like to see it with sofware AGEIA. But it looks far better than the original GRAW looked when AGEIA card debuted

Yes, but what about AI? Valve have a multithreaded AI that can do amazing things given a quad CPU if I recall, like a bunch of ants working together to push over a crate. At least valves AI programmer was extatic about multithreating performance and AI possibilitites.

- The best result, however, was not a benchmark at all, but the smile on the face of AI programmer Steve Bond, who Valve originally hired based on his work on Quake Command and other mods. Steve says that he was completely new to the concept of multithreaded programming before being introduced to these tools, yet it took him only a couple of days to wrap his head around the concept and only a few weeks to put together the demo he showed us.

But wouldn't it be better to have a specialized PPU for physics, and the CPU for AI? Then you can have both :)

And, a PPU card is very interesting as it sets a new standard. After GRAW Ageia Island all other games then PPU accellerated ones seem static. This is bad news for every other game, remember Area 51 game got shadowed and unintersting by HL2. Nevertheless exciting times for a PC enthusiast!

The G80 is capable of physics accelleration but the geometry shader has to share the horsepower with pixel shading and vertex shading, so if you bump up the resolution you are fsckd. And who knows how specialized the PhysX PPU is, compared to a unified shader arcitechture.

$136 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143055) actually :D

And here is a comparison with the HL2 engine, most likely multithreaded as the multithreading patch has been out a good while now, but I don't know what CPU he runs.
The video shows it stutters quite a lot when the building explodes.

Of course, the propritary fact gives me a Creative Bloat and vendor lock-in taste in my mouth.

Some people wont have the knowledge or whatever to replace their slower cpu so that would probably be the market for these things at which point they will will find their pc runs even slower.
Cheapest in the uk is just under $200!!!!

I like this one, Nice melons :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h34xgynBpL8

Looks cool, but theres no way I would be that retarded and by some extra card that only works in a few games.
It's a big waste.
Crysis will destroy this game anyways.
Never liked Ghost Recon anyways.
