Nice theory but it isn't true... why would I be getting hotel and printer ads when I have never searched for either in my entire life?

Yeah, adwords is based on the content of the page (so apparently there are a lot of 360's with red lights on NVNews:p). The ads on Google searches are based on what you search for.
