For your configuration a 7900GS or 8600GT would work very well.

I'd say either 8600GT/GTS or ATI HD2600XT. We'll have to wait for the ATI cards to see the light of day to make that choice.

I don't know how much you want to spend on a card but the X1950XT is just $169 and it is faster then the 8600GTS or the 7900GS ,It does't have DX10 but it will still run your games just fine ,I bought a X1950XT just because I got it cheap and it is faster in nearly ever game then my 7900GT was.But if you are going to spend over $300 I would go with a 8800GTS

That memory is onboard the card and does not affect your motherboard in one way or another. As long as you have a PCI-e slot and enough power to support the card, you're good to go. ;)

X1950XT 250MB is a very good card, and very fast, but unless you get an aftermarket cooler on it it's extremely loud with the reference large-housing shrouded ATI/Sapphire cooler -- if that matters to you. There's a BFG 7950GT 512MB at Fry's electronics on sale for 169.99 AR. Last day today IIRC. It's what I bought to get rid of my 8800 issues and it worked a treat. Oblivion maxed completely (grass on 65%) HDR no problem. Best of all? All games work. All old games. All new games. They just work.
