Hacking used to be an art, only able to be employed by those with the highest level of understanding about computers. Now some lame 13 year old kid can download a program and take half the internet off the air...it's a sad, sordid state of affairs.

Yeah right, go around telling everyone their password. This, they now call "hacking" and it's nothing more then a stupid scam in which only the newbie player typically falls for it, and it is the newbie player that doesn't even have good items worth their lame effort to steal. What's the skill in comming up with bogus messages like that in chat? I bet these people who think they're "hacking" don't even know what a port or an IP sniffer is.

If you have even rudimentary social engineering skills, you'd be amazed how many people will give information away.

What amazes me is that End Users are as much of a threat to the computer world as Script Kiddies...I can't tell you how many times our school network was down last year because some ignorant teacher opens a freaking email virus.

it's not the scammers who call themselves "hackers." it's the lamer public :p although i haven't been in the D2 scene for months, i don't recall anybody referring to them as anything but scammers.

people who fall for those "tricks" deserve it. when on the right side of the screen it says that Blizzard reps will never ask you for information, etc. i once saw one of those messages(this was when they first started, the warning wasn't there i think) and some guy types "\w scammer hispassword." he then types "oh crap," thereby alerting everyone as to what his password was. sad. if that happened to me, i would have at least have had the sense to just hope nobody realized what i had just done

At first I was mad all the old posts were deleted and my 2500 post count is down to zero.

Then I thought--what the fu** is the difference? Intelligent messages are just that, and there is no need for an inflated post count to back it up.

A lot of great information was lost and the saddest thing is we can't do a damn thing about it to recover it, though we can rebuild it can we ? ;) It's not so much the post count because that can be reverted with your own will to post more hehe

They banned me. I reported the channel and the "ops" (if you can call them that,) for abuse. The channel was shut down, hehehehehehe. Seems trhe guy I spoke to doesnt like script kiddies either...
