Nope. That pic is quite old actually. I'd guess it is from a rally race in Mexico because it is a game the kids play. They stand on the side of the track and try to touch the side of the cars as they come flying by. (They showed it on a episode of monster garage when they made a stadium truck for the baja 1000).

I think that photograph was in a recent National Geographic. Only Downs' Syndrome children are actually allowed to enter the race course, as you see in the picture. It is another unfortunate Mexican tradition, along with ****-fighting and the donkey show.

No, of course not. But accidents do happen occasionally. Luckily it is only DS kids that get hurt. The rally cars veer out of the way at the last possible moment, often drawing ooh's and ahh's from the rapt crowd. It is one of the few places on earth that still uses the feeble-minded for public entertainment. As you can see, this particular child is quite enjoying his brush with death, but on the whole I fully disapprove of any person being subjected to this treatment. Who thinks of this stuff.
