Hey guys. My brothers laptops hard drive broke today and were on newegg looking for a new one. Problem is we don't know what interface it uses.

The laptop is an HP Pavilion ZV5000.

I'm not sure if it's ATA, SATA or anything like that.

I have pictures I've uploaded and I'm wondering if any of you guys could PLEASE help me figure out what interface this is. Thanks Alot!

See that black part? It will pull off the drive and reveal the standard connector.

That's a regular 2.5" ide laptop hard drive. Any of the ATA-6 type drives on Newegg should work fine.

Yep. Should pull straight off to reveal a row of pins on the back of the drive.

One very important thing to remember is the position of any notches or missing pins on the drive or the connector. If you connect anything incorrectly, the drive WILL fry when you power it on because the power and data use the same connection and they are extremely sensitive.

First time I pulled out a laptop drive I wondered the same thing... :D Felt like such a nub when I found it just pulled straight off.
