Hey guys...because I am lazy to experiment myself....

..does anyone have any idea the performance of a system like mine with onboard sound solutions from Realtek vs Creative stuff?

..was wondering do onboard sound solutions really take up much cpu cycles to hurt performance or even are the sound qaulity difference that bad? Is it notceable?

ANyone with links? Much appreciate them!! :D

I'm guessing you're talking about Azalia HD, which as I understand it is supposed to be pretty good for an onboard audio solution. Oddly, I can't find a good comparison out there for, say, an Azalia-class chipset vs. an Audigy 2 ZS (though Creative by default does hardware acceleration outside of Vista, which may or may not be a significant factor depending on exactly what the heck you're planning to use it for).
