Whilst browsing last night, I found a shop that was selling 8800GTX at about 100 cheaper. Going for around 270 each, they clearly made a typo so I ordered 2. I am just starting to build a computer for my brother, and when I saw this I immediatly bought it for him.
These are my options:

1-Sell other 8800GTX on ebay and make a good profit and just put the other 8800GTX in my brothers new computer

2-Give my brother my 8800GTX, my P5w DH Deluxe and my psu and with the money I get, get a Striker motherboard, decent PSU and run 2x same make 8800GTX SLI

Ill let you lot decide for me I think because im torn!

What resolution do you game on? I think SLI definitely helps when your native resolution is 1920x1200 but even at 1600x1200 it should benefit. Id go with choice #2 in that case.

Of course if you plan to upgrade to the next Nvidia flagship card (9800GTX or whatever, scheduled for Q4 2007 most likely), then a single GTX should be more than enough for all games that come out this year. In that case Id sell the GTX.

Good luck James! :)

hey how are we!
To be honest, I play everything at 1280x1024 because thats my native res, so maybe your right, I should wait till a next gen comes out.
Thanks!

Im good, thanks! I hope everything is going good for you as well!

Yes, I think a single GTX is perfectly fine at 1280x1024 and even Crysis will play perfectly fine (with high or even maxed out settings) in that resolution. I dont think there will be games that will start to stutter until maybe mid 2008. Plenty of time left before it makes sense to upgrade again to a new flagship card. :)

Ill get my new HDTV this week and at 1920x1080 I will have to upgrade sooner and thats why Im hoping that theyll release the new card by Q4. :)

haha i was right! on Dabs.com, they were displaying a Gainward 8800GTX for 270, so i ordered 2, they are now back up at 359 again, what a bargain!

Are they going to send it to you because I am pretty sure that mistake was a typo?

Newegg had a MSI 8800GTX that was 489usd with rebate. It recently went OOS and they indicate they will be getting more:

Get that, mod the original BIOS, and flash in 622-648|950-1000 with a 1512-1566 shader clock and you'd have one nice card IMO.

They're not bound to sell them to you at that price if it was an obvious typo.
I'd say most likely they'll cancel your order and inform you that they made a typo.

Overclockers UK (www.overclockers.co.uk) have been selling 8800GTX's for 234.99 each since just before Christmas even though it says "This week only".
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-051-OK

They are unbranded though and only have a 1 year warranty, but it's a nice price ^^

Just FYI
