A new game that will change the movement style in First Person games hmmm ..
Patrick Soderlund, General Manager of EA DICE, commented: "We are a studio that believes in taking risks and taking games in new directions. We made the sandbox experience viable and enjoyable in Battlefield and now, we are looking to do something radical with the traditional established mechanics of first person movement."

Senior producer Owen O'Brien commented: "We want to change the way that players are able to move in first person. No more restrictions, no more being blocked by simple barriers such as walls and fences. We want to enable the player to move like a real person, with the ability to run, jump, vault and slide in a way that has never been seen before in a first person game."

Very. :)

For years I've been thinking about the day they finally break the standard walk\strafe\backpedal\jump\crouch formula for controls. I just hope they take it all the way and make it totally original, rather than just making a cumbersome and irritating first person view tomb raider type thing (rolling, hanging, climbing etc).

There have been a few recent games that have tried some new things with movement and first person views. Chronicles of Riddick, Call of Cthulhu and Dark Messiah did some pretty interesting things.

Can't wait to hear more about this.

You may add Killzone for the PS2 .. i was impressed with its movement style esp jumping over obstacles ..

Sounds like an awesome idea, but I can see enabling a player to do all that and do it all fluidly is going to be a headache for the developer.

Wondering if this game uses the Frostbite engine? I'm hoping for a new Battlefield game for the PC using that engine since Bad Company is console only.

If EA DICE just took BF2 and upgraded the graphics, I'd be happy as a lark.

Whatever they're doing, they HAVE to have C4 and Jeeps. :D

I agree, I was impressed and made it almost real especially you duck down slightly while reloading. I never get bored of that. lol

The problem with doing fancy acrobatics from the first person view is that it can be really confusing to watch from that view. That's why acrobatics are more in the 3rd person arena.

the graphics in those screen shots look pretty smooth wonder if they have touched them up a bit?, also wonder if David Belle will be in it(nana2) .
