Here's a full run-down of the press event,
* At the outset, Moore was really pushing third-party developer support and retail sales. Some very favorable statistics were shown regarding Microsoft’s newest console, the Xbox360. Also, Moore noted the tough battle with the Nintendo Wii, which is one of the biggest surprises we’ve seen this past year. More on the way.
* Jeff Bell now takes the place of Peter Moore. He announces a new controller, which is rather simple, and shows Microsoft trying to appeal to the more casual user. He then continued to show new games from Ubisoft and Electronic Arts.
* NFL star Reggie Bush takes the stage to demo the new Madden 08, which is said to run at two times the speed of last years Madden.
* Jeff Bell announces that more than 7 million users have signed up for Xbox Live, which means Live had a new member every 8 seconds. Several new Xbox Live Arcade games are shown (some of which were already released). Bell afterward announces the Xbox360 is leading the way in digital distributation, with more than a $125 million spent on downloadable content since the 360’s launch.
* Microsoft announces a deal with Disney to bring their library to Xbox Live’s video store.
* Shane Kim, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Game Studios, now takes the stage. Forza Motorsports 2 to sell more than 1 million titles by the end of this month. Project Gotham Racing 4 was then showed, which now also includes motorcycles. PGR is the only racing series to offer the ability to share pictures and video with friends via the new Project Racing On Demand feature.
* Shane Kim mentions the power of the Xbox360, and then goes on to show video of Lost Odyssey.
* Gears of War headed to PC with game editor this holiday season. It will be released for Windows XP and Vista.
* Peter Moore announces Games for Windows feature built into Epic’s Unreal Engine 3. On that note, Moore once again reiterates Microsoft’s commitment to gaming on the Windows platform. Among the games previewed was Call of Duty 4. Later on, two members of Infinity Ward’s team took the stage to give the viewers a deeper look at Call of Duty 4. It was apparently demoed on the Xbox360, and it seemed to have quite a nice framerate, even during more intense scenes. The COD4 multiplayer beta will be exclusive to the Xbox360.
* The Assassin Creed’s demo was shown as well. There were a few glitches during the live demo. It is to be released this November.
* Peter Moore once again takes the stage. Microsoft announces a Halo-themed console to launch in September. During the close the Microsoft press conference, Halo 3 singleplayer content was shown.
