View Full Version : Vista 163.11 out
Does anyone else get no shadows in GRAW2 with these drivers?
Also DV doesn't seem to stick if you downsize games etc :(
Yes, I get no shadows too...

Everyone running Vista x64 looses profiles. They're just fine with x32. It has to do with a file being put in a different/incorrect directory on the 64-bit version.
Profiles working fine here too:
Uninstalled previous Forceware Driver.
Rebooted into Safemode and ran XDC Driver Cleaner.
Rebooted into Normal Windows and ran RegSupreme Pro.
Installed 163.11.
Profiles work fine, no lockups or crashes. My only issue is still DV losing its settings... As soon as I enter a game and exit DV is no longer working and must be reset...

I've been playing FEAR Extraction Point off and on. Lately with these new drivers I've been getting an "Out of Memory" error right after I die. It's pretty consistant. I die, hit escape, and the error pops up. This never happened before.
While I have profiles with the 163.11 drivers, any changes I make to them are not saved after a reboot. They always return to default. (The nvapps.xml file is not read only and this is not an administrator issue)
Also, since I'm planning to start playing GRAW2 once its released and these have a shadow bug in that game, I'll be rolling back anyway.

These are the best drivers yet, I now get normal performance in hl2 games with 4xAA enabled, back up from 50-60fps css stress test to 120fps

I also don't get any shadows. I thought the game looked funny. lol
For kicks I played GRAW2 with these drivers for a few minutes knowing the shadows where not going to be there. Well, frame rates where pretty good. So, then I installed the 158.45 drivers to get my shadows back. The frame rates went down a little as expected. Without the shadows in GRAW2 there is no way to accurately say if the true game performance is improved with the 163.11 drivers or not. I'll be waiting for the next driver release that will fix the GRAW2 shadows.

No weird issues with these for me.
I did like I always do. Uninstall in safe mode, reboot, duck under F8 after post and disable driver check (I only do that with beta drivers), load windows and install, reboot. Sometimes I may hit F8 and disable driver check the first time I load the OS after installing the new beta driver as well. After I've loaded the CP for the first time I no longer do that.

Well i just ran some World in Conflict benchmarks on my machine. I dual boot XP/Vista on this, so heres the nitty gritty:
1920*1200 0xAA/4xAF All settings within the game maxed as high as possible (as XP allows them to maintain consistensy). Run on a 8800GTS 640mb @ 650/950
Windows XP: 31fps benchmark - 84fps at beginning of tutorial
Windows Vista: 26fps benchmark - 63fps beginning of tutorial.
Vista and DX10 still sucking

Same here. Filed a bug report with Nvidia

Hi
I don't know if this is the right thread, but here goes...
I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate (x86). My hardware is:
EVGA 680i SLI motherboard (P29 BIOS)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600@3.0Ghz
2 GG Corsair PC8500 RAM
Creative X-FI Fatality soundcard
2 X inno3D 800GTX running in SLI
1000W PSU
I've installed these 163.11 ForceWare drivers, but I cannot get Lost Planet DX10 version to run properly. I'm running 1280X1024, all settings maxed except shadow resolution. I'm getting around 20-25 frames at the max. And this isn't even outside! I've also installed the latest Nhancher. I see this thread, and some people are running this game in 1920X1280 smoothly. Any idea what's wrong with my setup? Older drivers does the same for me.

Latest Motherboard drivers, Latest sound card drivers?
Uninstall videocard drivers in safe mode, run driver cleaner, then install the drivers. Apply the latest hotfix by microsoft for multiGPU systems.

moving the nvapps.xml is probably a bad idea, since it is in syswow64 for a reason god knows why just do this, it fixes the problem.
C:\Windows\SysWOW64>mklink /H c:\windows\system32\nvapps.xml c:\windows\syswow64\nvapps.xml
Hardlink created for c:\windows\system32\nvapps.xml <<===>> c:\windows\syswow64\nvapps.xml
run the command under command prompt with admin priviledges, then rerun nhancer, its probably just a boo boo on Nvidia's part, but might as well be safe.
Thank you for the tip Mikey.
EDIT:
And if anyone from nVidia is watching I have a criticism of the CP.
The CP window is resizeable as are most windows. My issue is with the "global settings" and "program settings" tabs. Specifcaly, why are we unable to resize those settings panes so we are able to see all of the settings without scrolling through the list? It just looks unprofessional and adds to user workload unecessarily. This change should be incredibly easy.

Yes, yes and yes. I haven't done the safe mode version, since Vista does a good job removing other drivers when installing new ones. All hot fixes via Windows Update are installed. Other games runs fine, btw. I just think I'll drop playing Lost Planet, because it's not worth more time lost trying to fix it...
