View Full Version : New 1.0-4349 take ages to start?

I installed 1.0-4349 on my Mandrake 9.1 in according to the instructions.
When starting X I could only see a black screen and the computer seamed to have crashed.
I waited, waited and I waited.
After 4-5 minutes the desktop appeared.
I tried to reboot – the same problem. I tried to reinstall – the same problem.
I then uninstalled and installed my old 1.0-3123 and X started after 30 seconds (AMD 1400, GF 3 TI200 and 512 MB ram).
Is it normal that 4.xx drivers takes 10 times longer time to start? Why?

Found out that:
Option "IgnoreDisplayDevices" "DFP, TV" works!
4349 is now starting FAST.
BUT, I can not use my TV out...
Anyone who knows how to use TV out
AND have a fast boot?

Does removing TV from the Ignore list revert you to long boots?

Oh yes thank you !
You really helped me here!
I´ve been trying for weeks to solve the startup-problem.
I had it with any 40-series driver ...
again thanks

"Does removing TV from the Ignore list revert you to long boots?"
-Yes, it goes from 4-5 minutes (earlier) to instant (now).
The only problem now is that I can not use the TV out... Well, I guess it should not be too easy :-)
I have had the same problem as Ian_SUperfly and it seems that it is only the TV that needs to be ignored.

You might want to check with your card vendor to see if an updated vbios is available for your card.

I did that. I used their "chat support" and they should mail me a new bios. They seem to have forgot and the support is closed.
Anyone who knows where I could get a new bios for a Creative GF3Ti200?

I have your same card and the same problem, Probably I'll want to use TV out in the future, the problem is present if TV is connected too?
Why this problem isn't present in Windows and in the 31** Series of the drivers?
Thankz

It could be from the custom Mandrake Linux kernel. Try compiling a stock kernel and see if that helps.
