I read somewhere that with Nvidia working with IBM who is working with Motorola to get a MRAM sample out in late 2003, we might see an MRAM NV45

Not unless you want a 1 meg vid card. MRAM only comes in very small units right now... like 64kb was the largest one so far, if I remember correctly.

Magnetic Random Access Memory:
...MRAM has several potential advantages: It could be cheaper than standard computer memory, known as DRAM, as well as faster than the speediest static memory. In addition, like the flash memory used in cell phones and digital cameras, MRAM will not lose the information stored on it when it is removed from a power source

So, the best of SAM and DAM plus not being volitale.

Um.. read that article. I didn't see any better links for info specifically on MRAM, but based on the name, wouldn't magnetic fields anywhere near the memory itself be a very bad thing with this form of memory? (Just as hard drives can be wiped by a strong magnetic field for the same reason..)

Anything can be wiped by a "strong magnetic field" ;)

There seems to be very very little reason to have mram in a Video card, think about system memory your computer boots up imeadiately great, but you don't need to store video card info ever when the computer is off. At least that is how I see it

Well if it's cheaper to make and bit faster then that's all they need.

maybe nvidia will use 1/2 a meg of that as cache?

I think its more probable that they use the Bitboys
tech they got when they bought em..
Embedded ram..
Bitboys had a prototype with 12Mb (i think) Embedded
with a 1024bit buss, and then manufacturers could add
on external DDR as usual.
The embedded 12 mb is used for the most memory intensive
operations and the external ram for the rest.
XBA it was called.

I was kinda hoping for that in NV30 or NV35 but obiviously
they didnt use it..

http://firingsquad.gamers.com/hardware/bitboys/page4.asp

they had good specs for the Axe gpu
600-800 Mpixlels/sec
Single Pass Quad Texturing
Single Cycle Dual Texturing
MatrixAA
12 MB EDRAM on 1024-bit Bus
DirectX8 1.1 Vertex Shader
50 Million Vertices/sec Sustained
Dual Chip Support over CBI (Custom Bus Interface)

After that they had a prototype called Hammer
1200+ Mpixels/sec
Single Cycle Quad Texturing
DX9 Pixel Shader
3 MB EDRAM
Proprietary Occlusion Culling System
MatrixAA2
DX9 Vertex Shader
100 Million Vertices/sec Sustained

dont think any of em got out on the market due
to funding issues and problems with infieon

I cant seem to find anything on Bitboys and Nvidia,
didint nvidia buy Bitboys or am I imagining things?

Nah, nvidia didn't buy the vaporware masters.

No, nvidia didnt by BitBoys, i really do feel that Bitboys never did tape out a product, they just made alot of 'what ifs'

Hmm.. hehe I really wonder where the hell I got
so convinced Nvidia bought Bitboys up?
wierd..
