When idle my 8800gtx is at 74~75C, when i playing games for hours it can go up to 82~85C, is it normal? or my card is overheating?
Thanks :)

Before I installed the Thermalright HR-03 my idle temps were 66-68C with load temps of 78-80C and my oc was limited too 610mhz. I'd say your temps are too the high side of normal, especially the idle, If you are not in an A\C controlled enviroment..could be due to summmer temps. IMO...you should still check the seating of the cards HSF. If the card is not crashing then its not techically "overheating" but I can't believe 85C is healthy for the GPU in the long run.
I went with an after market HSF....this HR-03 cut temps >20C idle and load @ a higher OC of 630mhz :) 100% worth all the space it takes up..

What is the temp of your house? I know with mine I have central air so my house does not see higher than 81 F so mine idles about 52C.

@PaiN: Nice gear you got there, since i don't have any space for it so i will try to check my card again.

@Eltigre88: It's quite hot here, I guess it's around 30C inside my house, running 3DMark06 or playing CSS my card is around 80~81C, but
playing high-end games like Colin McRae Dirt or Lost Planet, Oh NO, the temps around 82~85C, Summer problem i guess??

Ya I bet the house temp is 90% of your problem for sure. 86F in the house sounds like the cooler is defenitly working for ya.

Hi Napoleon_Kane. I just figured out why my GPU (Geforce 8800GTX) was getting 80C idle and up to 110C with fan at 100% whilie playing Crysis Warhead, GRID COD ect. I opened that case of my dell and figured out that the physx card was to close to the GPU, aka cutting off the circulation. So i moved the physx card over 1 slot and bam. the card temp went down to 50C idle and max of 66C Crysis with fan on 82%. That saved my card and i hope it helped you.

Something else to consider is simply replacing the stock heat sink pooky with something better, such as artic silver ceramique.

High idle temps are usually due to badly seated HSF or high ambient temp. Your load temps arent too bad tbh. The Thermalright HR-03 will reduce the temps quite a bit.

Meanwhile you could download rivatuner and manually set the fan speed on the GPU to around 85%

Are you from UK or US?....I have 2 of those thermalright HR-03's i could possibly sell you one.

PM me if interested.

my evga 8800 GTX idles at 57c and loads at 82c+. The highest I've seen it go was 90c. I took off the stock hsf, applied antec silver 5 and slapped it back in and it does the same crap. And this is a card I received via RMA. Now Evga won't replace this card cause they say they can only RMA one card because I didnt register my first card within 30 days of purchase. I have another 8800GTX that's an OEM Nvidia model and it idles at 53c and loads 72c. I will try some OCZ freeze as it cools better on my cpus. I will never, ever, ever pay more than $350 for a high end video card ever again. I payed $650 for the evga 8800GTX the week it came out.
