A liquid that changes colour when exposed to a magnetic field could cheaply replace the colour components in conventional LCD monitors, claim US researchers.

One more technology in its early phases, set to compete with the likes of LCD or OLED. I'm guessing the article was written by a Brit, notice the "U" in color? When did they butcher their own language? :p

the major problem with the tech that i can see is the fact that it uses iron oxid which can be influenced by magnetic fields. i can see speakers and the such either distorting or breaking down the image to the point of permanent color degridation.

True, but that is the same problem with CRTs. Computer speakers are magnetically shielded for this reason.

I would like to see this as a coating on the outside of the body, like body paint from the 60's, only this time it is illuminated! YEAH!
Watching videos on my honeys boo's!

That makes no sense at all.

Cheaply replace... blablabla yeah right. They always say this, but prices never go down. And not just for displays, for all sorts of stuff.
