I've got a customer who is seeing the same DVI, dual processor lockups as other have reported. The system in question is a Dell Precision 650 with 2GB RAM, A Quadro4 900 XGL (01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV25GL [Quadro4 900 XGL] (rev a3)) connected to a Dell 1800FP and an hours old install of Redhat 9. When the system uses its DVI connector with the 4349 drivers, the system locks up. If we use the DVI -> VGA converter and the VGA input on the monitor, the system loads XFree without a problem. The instal of RH9 also required the use of VGA to the monitor. Of course, Windows XP on the same system has no issues with DVI. I've included XFree86.0.log files for for both failed and good loads of XFree. The failed log stops just after it reports successfully loading AGP4x support. Any fix yet?

We're looking into it. I don't have any timeline for you as of yet.

I apologize for the inconvenience...

Was a solution found for this issue? I've got the same hardware and similar problems. My host does
not lock up when X is started, but I get two
black screens. A related thread on this forum
suggested using the VGA adapter and cabling. This
gets me a little further. X starts on the
primary screen (screen0), but nothing on screen1.
HOwever, the Gnome panel is not visible - it appears
to be off the screen so there's a problem with the
resolution but I'm not sure why.

Anyone got this worked out? Can anyone post a
working XF86Config for this hardware config?

Thanks!

Hi,
i think to have a similar problem with different hardware.
I have a Dell Workstation precision 530 with two cpus, an NVidia Quadro 700 XGL and a Dell 2000FP monitor.
If i connect the monitor to the DVi connector in the graphic card the host is booting, but when X starts the monitor goes in powersave mode and the host is totally hanging.
Everything works fine if i use the analog (vga) ports on both sides (monitor + graphic card)

I had this problem with rh8 and i still have it with rh9 with all latest patches and different kernels.
Even trying to install the hosts with rh9 cds hangs when the graphic starts and the monitor is connected to DVI?
Is there a solution for this problem?
I can post the XF86Config file but if the installation under redhat doesn't work i think it is a different problem.
thanks
