What is Texture Tools 2 Alpha?

I seen this(Texture Tools 2 Alpha)on the home page, however i haven't a clue what its for lol.

Sorry for being a noob but what exactly does this do? what is it used for?

Texture Tools 2 Alpha is a software program that is targeted for developers.

The main point about the news post is that NVIDIA is able to use the capabilities of the GPU (using CUDA) vs. the CPU for a significant increase in performance. This is another step in the right direction of providing developers tools that can shorten the development cycle.

ATI has a similar program called The Compressonator, which I have used in reviews before. It has a feature that allows you to compare two images and reports the differences between them.
